Are you sure that is The Who? It sounds worse than a third rate garage band. http://archives.rickresource.com/clipart/happy.gif

And Townsend had the nerve to comment on the Beatles musicianship? Granted, I know it was only a jam session, but Pete's ridiculous attempt at a guitar solo was awful ...

It was a great performance, but I like the other close sounding group by the name of the "Fab Four" better.

I saw it, too! They were good!

Having seen them now, I like the Fab Four a bit more. All the weird costumes distracted a bit from the music.... although, it was "I am the Walrus"

I'm embarrassed to say that I do not recognize the player in the picture beneath McCartney. It's kind of a dark picture. Is that Entwistle?

Marc has a point. I still remember hearing "Sgt Peppers" and "Abbey Road" for the 1st time. It was right after John died. I remember the room I was in, everything!

Their music does sound very unique. That must be why it is still played so much. I very much enjoy other bands. I love U2's 80s stuff ...

Beatle Albums vs other bands

I know most Beatle Albums were recorded in a very short period of time, so the songs in those albums were written in an extremely short period of time. Even "Sgt Peppers..." took only 6 months to record. That was a very long time for a Beatles product, yet only a fraction of time for other bands ...

Hi Stuart,

I was fortunate enough to see that line up in Phoenix. It was at Sun Devil Stadium in April of '90.

Fantastic show. Just waiting in line to get into the stadium I chatted with people from Mexico City, Milwaukee and Los Angeles. That was interesting all by itself.

I also like Paul ...

James Jamerson, the Motown great, is well documented as only using one finger, his right index, to pluck all those great, defining basslines.

very impressive when you think how smooth and far ranging he was on the fretboard. You'd think that he would need at least two fingers to play some of his ...

Is there still acrimony? Denny speaks extensively on the 25th anniversary CD of "Band On The Run" which came out in '98 or '99.

They were playing together for many years in Wings. Was it about 9 years? That's a very long time to be in a band. It's only natural that they would have disagreements ...

Our John was delusional by this point, or I think Yoko always had a gun at his side, forcing him to say nice things about Yoko's ability.

I do remember the comments about the B52s, but those ...
