Re: Flatwounds for 2009 4003
Ok! That sounds great. As I said earlier I love dark and mellow flats, and actually like my strings to be as stiff as possible without being harmful to the instrument. Interesting that you also mentioned DR flats as I was considering those too. What are they like tone-wise? I hear they are very ...

Re: This One's Been A Bit Modded.....
God! that bass pickup looks like one of those Guild humbuckers from a 70's starfire bass. Wow. Who could bring themselves to do that!? (Well, other than lemmy, of course  )
Cliff Burton comes to mind.
Hehe, exactly what I thought after I put up that post! I actually watched a guy ...

Re: Flatwounds for 2009 4003
The new LaBella "Low Tension Flats" are dark in tone, but have a great feel.
The LaBella's feel a little tighter, but apparently are a little lower in tension than the Thomastics.
You might consider the Optima 4099s. Dark tone but nice feel.

Re: Randy Meisner 4001
Yeah, I'd probably say '77 too because the neck seems pretty thin, the horns seem a little thicker, and the skunk stripe. Not too sure though. All I know is its later than '74 with the neck pickup spacing, but mabye its true that he could have had an earlier one. I too thought one of these nights ...

Re: What kind of bass amp do you use with your Rickenbacker?
I usually use either my ampeg svt-cl head hooked up to a svt-810e for LOUD rock and roll
, or my traynor yba300 hooked up to a tc810 cab for more laid bac psychedelic 60's tube tones, or sometimes (most of the time) I use both!

Re: New 4003S body/neck compared with 4001C64 questions
Good to know, I'll notify my friend. He is the one who owns it by the way, and I am sorry to have provided some confusion due to my somewhat inexperience on the 4001c64. I do know however, my 4003s kicks a$$ and its totally hip for gigging.
Thanks,
Eli

Re: New 4003S body/neck compared with 4001C64 questions
Hey again chris, the 4001c64 i VERY VERY slightly thinner, i mean I've never measured it but its very small, but the 4001 just feels a little thinner to me probably due to the more rounded contour on the body edges. I find it interesting that your friend is having trouble with taillift with pyramids ...

Re: New 4003S body/neck compared with 4001C64 questions
Hey there chris, I find that tonally, the horseshoe/toaster combination and the half inch neck spacing on the 4001 makes it sound a little warmer, but that's just my take. With regards to the two extra screws in the tailpiece, Rickenbacker hasn't done that since about the mid 90's, but I wouldn't be ...

Flatwounds for 2009 4003
Hey everyone! Just to start off i'd like to say its my first time posting anything on this forum, so I hope I did this right  ! Anyways, I was wondering if the LaBella 760FS set would be fine for my 2009 RIC 4003. I don't mind having to adjust the truss rods, but I am worried about bridge lift ...
