Re: Re:

How about The Rolling Stones? There's the High Tide Shot of Brian Jones with a 360/12...what song(s) did the guitar end up on?
"Lady Jane", possibly?

Edit: Just went back and listened to the song. It sounds like a Rick 12 unplugged and miked (lots of pick noise, but all in all, it sounds like my ...

Re: Frying Pan Guitar

Jesse from Cowtown Guitars was the expert. Rick ended up buying it for $1500.

I love watching the show, but I take it with a huge grain of salt. A couple of years ago, a guy came on the show with what he claimed was a '60 Les Paul Custom. As soon as it came out of the case you saw a volute and ...

Re: MARF IV (Mid-Atlantic RIC Fest)

I'll be attending with #1 son - should be there by 10:30 on Saturday (I have some friends who live about 10 minutes away that I want to have breakfast with).

Re: The Monkee's Gretsch

IIRC, didn't Gretsch do a single-cut 12 string (with a Bigsby no less!) for Nez very early on in the Monkees show?

I've always liked the look of the blonde 6076 that Nez had, but that one was a custom job - it had an 18" body. The only 6076s I've seen have had 17" bodies and were sunburst finished ...

Re: New Gretsch book!

I picked up my copy at the Philly Guitar Show a couple of weeks ago (Ed Ball was autographing copies) and I'll second libratune's comments - it's a very well done book and a worthy addition to your library.

Re: Rickenbacker Electric 12 Book - Has Anyone Seen It?

Got my copy today. Interesting bits in the model guide asserting that the V series guitars were "renamed" as the C series - discuss amongst yourselves. For $16.50 it's a good bang for the buck, nice large format at least. A lot of the pics are familiar, but some cool insights into the role the ...

Re: 325 On Ted Mack's Amateur Hour

I was hoping it was hiding under the owner's bed - the Bop-Kats still live about 45-60 minutes from me and I would've been over there so fast with a 20 megapixel camera....

325 On Ted Mack's Amateur Hour

Perhaps the earliest TV footage of a Rickenbacker 325 out there - a group called the Bop-Kats from the Poughkeepsie, NY area on Ted Mack's Original Amateur Hour 10/2/60.

Edit - Thanks John - I'm used to you-know-where's way of displaying YouTube videos.

Re: Twist & Shout-Hollywood Bowl-Great quality

More drastic repair work was then effected by the group as a whole, with entirely new recordings completed for two songs: 'I Feel Fine' (done at George Martin's specific request)
Well, Scott - there's my point. "I Feel Fine" on the TV soundtrack sounds quite sloppy and as if it didn't have much ...

Re: Twist & Shout-Hollywood Bowl-Great quality

BTW, if you watch the Beatles at Shea video, you'll immediately notice that the opening song, Twist and Shout, is actually the Hollywood Bowl recording that made it to the Capitol LP.
