I returned to guitar playing after a 20-year absence and bought a few guitars, one of which was a 2002 360 12. I strung it with 9s and have been playing all kinds of stuff on it... blues, Clash, originals. Great fun. Then I got a 360v64 on ebay... what a disaster, which I quickly admit is more a pro...

DiPinto Mach IV 12 string

I live a few blocks from the DiPinto shop in Philadelphia, and wandered in on Saturday looking for a Christmas present for my step-son-in-law. Instead I walked out with the 12-string version of the DiPinto Mach IV ( http://www.dipintoguitars.com/guitars_mach4.html ). This guitar is a blast to play; ...

Bruce-- With the minimalists, maybe you had to be there... For my part, I can't go the Shostakovich/Stravinsky/Bartok symphonic route; I'm too aware of how they're manipulating me. But, having said that, I have a wonderful disc by Keith Jarret of Shostakovich's piano preludes and fugues. As for pass...

Bruce--

The repetition is the hype.

At any rate, here's a whole musical genre you can cross off your list.

Doug-- Yeah, LaMonte Young! Both Branca and Thurston Moore played in Rhys Chatham early ensembles. In the booklet in the Chatham boxed set Chatham describes how Branca learned about alternate tunings and just intonation from him, and then used them in his own ensembles. Bruce--I work on Independence...

Bruce-- AKA Music is on 2nd Street just north of Market in Old City. Great indie shop. The "contemporary classical" is wedged under the stairs on a far wall. Terry Riley is an organist as well as composer. In his early days he supported himself doing lounge piano gigs. There's a recent pia...

Not familiar with Danielpour but certainly Adams, Reich, Glass. All come out of the 70s minimalist style (limited range of notes and tempos played in tight, repetitive patterns). Try Drumming for Reich and Music in 12 Parts or Music in Changing Parts for Glass... the earlier stuff is best for both. ...

You can buy code-free/region-free dvd players; my wife and I just bought this one: http://www.regioncodefreedvd.com/pioneer275.html Plugged it in, hooked it up, and we were watching British dvds in Philadelphia. (If you buy a region-free player make sure it also makes the conversion from PAL to NTSC...

Finally got around to watching the whole thing over Christmas.. three times. What a great, great band. I remembered something that Strummer said on the Westway to the World dvd about the Clash not being "little Englanders," not afraid to absorb other types of music into their songs. The Ja...

I finally picked this up; haven't watched all of it, but seeing In the City again was pretty cool. In the back of my mind I could hear Joe Strummer's take on the Jam: "...they got Burton suits/you think it's funny?/turning rebellion into money." Joe Strummer with a jetglo Rick... there's a...

I assume the glow-in-the-dark Ric is a follow-up to the equally rare light show model. I drew a jack-o-lantern on the back and put the guitar in the window for Halloween.

Guys, it was a newbie's enthusiasm and the misheard words of a salesman in a store. It's a whitebound double pointy, toasters, shark-tooth inlays. I guess the split intonator bridge was a previous owner enhancement. And now that you mention it, it does glow in the dark.

1996 360C63 12-string

Folks--

I'm new to this forum, and a new "old" Ric owner. I recently bought a 1996 360C63, 12 string, with the split intonator bridge. I'm curious how this guitar compares to the 360V64, and if the production run of the 360C63 was limited.

Thanks.

Gary
