Re: Identification and Advice

Not looking to 'restore' it authentically.

I'll easily settle for current reproductions, I don't have an issue with that, I don't need an authentic era one.

I'm kind of excited about the project, just will have to do slowly due to the costs involved.

I don't think I'll have it refinished -too ...

Re: Identification and Advice

This is MORE than an ample starting point.

Thank you for your time and knowledge. I'm sure I'll be asking more questions when I begin doing this, but this is a firm footing to begin on.

Re: Identification and Advice

Again, I thank you!

I find all this stuff fascinating. Never really did any serious work on a guitar before, and this is a great learning experience for me.

Re: Identification and Advice

That is incredibly interesting.

There is a lot to know about them apparently. Is there a maintenance manual of sorts available for the older Rics?

Re: Identification and Advice

That is an incredible wealth of information - thank you very much for posting!

Again, it's a side project so I'm not in a rush, but think it would be nice to have a 12 string. Since it didn't cost me anything, I have no problem putting some money into it. The TRC issue is amazing.

Re: Identification and Advice

and what would the correct string gauge be?

I also seem to remember hearing somewhere that the tuning is different than a regular 12 string tuning on the bass strings. This true?

It's an interesting bridge, BTW.

Any idea as to the reputation on them?

Re: Identification and Advice

I would want to set it back up as a 12 string and keep it to play. No interest in turning it over at this point.

Identification and Advice

Just came into possession of this Ric. I'm told it's from the mid-late '60s. Was a 12 string, and was Fireglo.

The guy removed half the tuners and tossed them, and sanded off the color and covered it in lacquer.

Any idea of the model and year?

Is it worth my buying new hardware and plastics (and ...
