A few of us have experienced your pain.
If you go down the path of getting a replacement tailpiece from RIC also replace the tailpiece bracket. It's the same material, the same age, and only a little bit more solid. After replacing my R tailpiece the bracket blew out about 18 months later.

Re: It’s 2025, what flats you like best on your Ric bass.
I put TI Flats on my '24 4005, and I'm very happy with them. After that I reused the shiny, new RIC roundwound strings on my 4003. Zingy!

Re: Bent truss rods, and other issues...
I picked up an '86 330 a few years ago on the cheap, as one truss rod was busted (stripped thread). The other one had been dimed to try and balance out the tension. Anyway, on replacement both were banana'd with the unbroken one particularly so. Considering the torque the truss rods are under, I'm ...

Re: 650D Fretboard Dots
FWIW, I found some gerneric dot markers of the correct size a few months ago, and I finally got to fit the replacement yesterday. The diameter was spot-on, but it needed to be sanded down to not sit proud. All done now, and seated with a bit of CA glue.
The end result is I have something like 49 ...

Re: McCartney's last live performance with his Rick
Great pics, BTW.
Paul started writing with Elvis Costello in 87' and did some work on his album Flowers in the Dirt & EC's Spike!. EC had asked him to bring in his Hofner for the sessions, as he was a great fan of vintage gear (as well as being a Beatles fan from his youth). Paul had largely ...

Re: 4005 Rickenbacker V
I got my 4005V a week ago and whilst I can't say what the neck profile is, or how it compares to a 1960's bass, I can compare it to my 03' 4003. The 4005V bass has a thinner neck in comparison to my 4003.

Re: New 4005 Basses
Hi Folks,
I received my 4005V this afternoon, and it's lovely. After over 8,000 miles it was still in tune!
1st impressions; the fit & finish is perfect, the body is light (@8.8lbs) and resonant, slightly neck heavy (light body) but you don't notice it after a while, the timber looks lovely ...

Re: New 4005 Basses
Hi Folks,
I've got one of these on order and I was wondering what would be a good flatwound or tapewound string to install? In the past I've only used flats on a shortscale bass, and RIC strings on my 4003, but I'm thinking of going with flats or tapes.
I'm guessing it'll come with RICs standard ...

Re: 360v64 fireglo
Hi Mark,
From what I can see the 360 V64 was only manufactured between 1991 & 2000, it was replaced by the C63 model. Unless it's NOS it'll probably by a C63. Other differences are discussed here - https://www.rickresource.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=397975.

Re: 360v64 fireglo
Hi Mark,
Depending on overall condition that looks like it's in the mid-to-high range on the Register pricelist data. That's assuming you're in the US.
https://www.rickresource.com/register/pricelist.php.
It's not an unfair price on face value.
Cheers,

Re: Is it happening? A new 4005?!
Hi Folks,
At this stage nothing new on when they're available. I was told they expect they'll be released in summer (northern hemisphere), which is anywhere from next week to the end of August. I'm sure I'll hear from my dealer as soon as they land, so I can pay the balance owing.
