bridge height raises action
The higher the bridge floats, the higher your action is going to be.
There will come a point where the bridge is too high, and the saddles bottom out before you get your action where you want it.

vibrato arm
That arm is actually used for a vibrato effect.

They do control the volume for each pickup separately.

I was concerned that it might take some brightness away, which is why I used the 1 MegOhm pots, to counteract that.
They are essentially wired together, but when I lower the volume on one pickup I'm shunting the + and - wires together for that pickup.

My Fireglo 4004 Laredo
The previous owner modded it to V/V/T, which is fine by me.
I further modded it to 1 MegOhm pots & the pickups are now in series.
So basically, there are 4 coils in series. It might take away some brightness, but it gives it more Ooomph!
