My Lollar de-gaussed because of an inferior ground wire of the amplifier. The wire carried some voltage. Thus it drained the magnetism.
But I placed a strong magnet on the horseshoe and let it rest for a period of time.
And guess what? It sounds like brandnew!

I came across a metal bridge pickup cover on eBay.
There's almost no difference in appearance with the later plasic ones from nowadays.
So I bought it for my '73 4001.
I was wondering when were they in use?
From mid sixties I believe? To what date?

I purchased recently a '73 4001 in Fireglo. The luthier replaced the worn out frets and installed a lollar horseshoe.
The wood is exeptionally good; dense birdseye maple with the darkest rosewood you've ever seen.

It looks like it picks up transmissions from the television and lights more than the mono output.

I recently switched from mono to the Rick-O-Sound output. I use a Y-cable. From stereo to 2 x mono.
Both the mono outputs go direct into the two input channels of a '73 Ampeg SVT.
Well....It sounds fantastic! It sounds more direct. Perhaps because of more output gain of the PUPS.
