No other radio-like sounds, fridge switching on, etc.?
Does it happen when plugged in to a different amp elsewhere?
Or is it when it's not even plugged in?

Re: Can I just use the ROS jack since I only like bridge pup
Problem is, if you flip the selector switch to bass pickup, you'll get no sound.
An alternative would be to use the mono socket and turn the neck pickup volume down.

Re: Parted out Ric jack plate
Paul: I don't represent the Register, I just contribute to it. Typically when we find a non RIC with an authentic RIC jackplate on it we mark it as fake in the register. Even an authentic RIC with a different jackplate on it gets flagged as fake. The purpose of the entry for a butchered RIC is to s...

Re: Parted out Ric jack plate
Winfield Vintage sells unstamped reproduction jack plates. You should purchase one of those for your project and sell the actual RIC part to someone who can use it on a Rickenbacker. Hmmm, the Ric it belonged to has been parted out, so surely putting it on another one would be invalid? Perhaps, but...

Re: Parted out Ric jack plate
My $0.02 would be to leave the register as is. The purpose is to document how Ricks were made, and the serial number does that best for its original guitar, not your new project, which (as cool as I'm sure it is) does nothing to further the purpose of the register. So I think just leaving it as is ...

I think you win a prize there!collin wrote:Easiest solution in the world:
Unscrew the original pole pieces. Flip the pickup over, screw the same polepieces in from the backside. Put the cover on. Go drink a beer. Enjoy.

Re: Toaster cover on a high gain help!
Well, from your description, the shaft of the screws should be the same on both, with just the head being a different depth?
An alternative would be long grub screws (ie. which have no head at all).

Parted out Ric jack plate
FYI, I’ve just bought the Ric twin jack plate H3 6200 for my parts box (via another forum). I went to enter it onto the Register, but it’s already there. Is there a mechanism to change registration details? I believe the bass was parted out by The Butcher Of New Jersey. My intention is to use it, al...

Re: How to install an HB1 on a 4003?
I have an idea. Instead of getting a custom 4003 harness for the HB1 pups, could I use the Rickenbacker boutique's 4004 harness in my 4003 body with the HB1's? Just keep the other two volume knobs on the 4003 as dummies? So it would be like 4004 guts in a 4003 body. No more AC hum and other noise n...

Re: How to shield a 4003 bass?
The shield (ie. the main shaft of the jack) is common. It'll also be where the single wire coming through from the bridge connects to and also the braided shield of all wires and also the main body of all the pots. It's probably an idea to have a little bit of spare in the wire, in case things do ne...

The jack socket is the place where the guitar is earthed to (ie. where it connects to the incoming jack's earth).

Re: need advice: fix or sell my '73 4001
CB = checkerboard binding aha yes, it's got CB also has FWFI (full width fretboard inlays) and SS (Skunk stripe) and a NAB (notched aluminum bridge) plus POA (plenty of attitude!) You forgot to mention the TRC. Also, the correct term is a gap-toothed tailpiece; the bridge is just the part whi...
