Re: Aftermarket Bridge User Survey

I voted for the brass with no wobble, though It's not installed on the bas anymore though. I put it on for ease of adjusting the intonation rather than intonation problems with the original, as I was experimenting with string gauges a bit and adjusting the intonation was a bit of a pain. Now I've se...

Re: Roger Glover's Ric

He did indeed have it restored a few years ago and the slanted pickups have gone, but the replacements are not Ric pickups.

Here's a small article regarding the restoration:

Re: The Birds...not The Byrds..

The Birds was the group that Dick Ashby managed before becoming the Bee Gees road manager. When they split, he was apparently left with most of their gear, (which he had paid for) and so he took it, and the Bee Gees used some of it in their very early days... Interesting....there wasn't an RM1999 i...

Re: The Birds...not The Byrds..

Nice one scotty .

You don't happen to know where the picture on this album cover was taken do you?

Someone asked on another forum and the suggestion is that it's a London pub.

The Birds...not The Byrds..

Here's the Birds in a scene from the 1967 film The Deadly Bees.

A young Ron Wood can be seen playing a Telecaster....The Ric can be best spotted around the 1:55 mark.

£340.00 doesn't get you a lot these days....

I think both these sellers are being a little over optimistic: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RICKENBACKER-BASS-GUITAR-4000-SER-TRUSS-ROD-COVER-LOGO_W0QQitemZ260402614220QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Guitar_Accessories?hash=item260402614220&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1688|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3...

Re: Overpriced 4005 ?

There's another '67 4005 in The UK with a similar price tag once the conversion to Dollars is made. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1967-RICKENBACKER-4005-BASS-GUITAR-NATURAL-MANI_W0QQitemZ310114579820QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV?hash=item310114579820&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkp...

Re: Deepening of bass nut slots, advice needed

I managed to sort this. I got the 0.46, 0.056, and 1.05 files from Stewmac and got hold of a 0.78 from Allparts in The UK, which as it turned out was perfect for the A string slot..I didn't have to widen the slot to use the file so it must have been factory cut at around 0.78. I was very impressed w...

Deepening of bass nut slots, advice needed

Hi, I have one of the slots cut a little too deep on my 4003, it's the g string slot. This was my fault as I messed around with different sting gauges and didn't use the correct tool to do the job...I had a feeling it was going to go pear shaped and should know better than try to bodge something :? ...

Jim,

If You had won that cover for over $100 and decided you didn't want to pay,you would be regarded as a timewaster and given negative feedback.

You won the item fair and square and the sale should be honoured.......The doc is obviously not an honourable man.
