Re: Humbucker help

I was coming back here to report that I called Rickenbacker and they told me the exact same thing that you just said. I'll look further into the 620 with the HB1's

Humbucker help

I saw there was a similar thread going but I don't want to hijack.

I have a Rick 330 which I love. However, I am interested in Humbuckers. I went to the store and tried a bunch of SG's and LP's and I really just don't like quite a bit of about the Gibson's. There's too much I don't like to ...

Re: My dads 4003.

No problem. Glad I could show it to the community after knowing it's been sitting in a closet for over 35 years.

I hope this pic works. It looks to be a Nov 1971.

wints wrote:Possibly the best example of an early 70's AZG I can remember. I'll concur with chef and say very late '71, especially as the other two examples are December basses.

Fabulous!

This feedback is greatly appreciated. I'd like to try for better pics soon.

Re: My dads 4003.

He's already looked up the serial number over the years and it translates to a 1971. Story is he was under the impression it was a '68 when buying. He later found out it was the 71 and was disappointed. Guess that doesn't matter 2017.

Yeah, I've been seeing Rick fans defending the Rick honor about that all over Youtube. It makes me want to use the Rick even more if people think it can't do it.

Re: New to guitar.

Learn songs you like... none of that "Mary Had a Little Lamb" garbage that they make children learn on piano... that's why they hate it, duh!

Hey, don't knock on my favorite song, man.

. And yes, Ricks are addictive, you'll want one in every color. :D

I can see that for sure. I ...

Re: New to guitar.

I have been asked about what I like to play a few times and you're not going to like the answer. What I mean by that is I know this isn't the right guitar for that. I love Black Sabbath style Riffs. I think they are the pioneers of that dirty sounding Riff and palm muting early metal. The good news ...

Re: My dads 4003.

Thanks for the compliments. It's nice to see such a cool instrument be appreciated properly. It is a 1971 and it is 100% stock and not modified.

New to guitar.

Hello, I made a post in the Bass section about why I have a Ric.

I just started a journey into playing guitar a few months ago and this week I bought my first Rickenbacker after about 28 years of wanting one. It sounds good and is really easy to play and learn on. I think I have a good set up here ...

Re: My dads 4003.

Justin, your dad's 4001 bass looks stock

I actually think he told me something was changed but I can't remember what. As for the rarity and value. I will inherit it some day and have no plans to sell so it will hopefully make it to the 100 year mark in my possession. I'd be 90 when it hits 100 ...

Re: My dads 4003.

Well I just searched Azureglo 4001 and I feel like an idiot. all these years I just assumed and thought it was a 4003 because that's what all the Rick Basses seem to be. Do they still make a 4001? When I heard 4001 before I thought it was a lower line of the 4003 or something. I text him for some ...

Re: My dads 4003.

It sounds like you guys are about to tell me much more about it than I actually know. Like I said I only saw it about 3 times in my 35 years. I really swore it was a 4003 but maybe not? You guys are close on the year it's a 1971 I think. I'm pretty sure he said checkerboard binding. I'm wondering if ...
