So, did the 75th Annversary Bass meet all your expectations? - Or would you still prefer my original idea all those years ago?!

Re: "The" RM 1999
i've only seen lake's j-bass with crimso. i don't think a rick has ever graced crimso save for a '73 style fireglo 4001 owned by wetton but tucked away in his collection.
I don't think JW's Rick is a '73 as it has padauk/walnut (?) headwings and no skunk stripe.
I believe, from pics and video ...

Funk-rockin my Stingray, (non-Ric content)
Non-Ric content, just me "funking" out with my Stingray earlier in May... (soon to be replaced by a "Funkenbacker"!!)

Re: Squire's other 4-strings
on tormato, his reverse thunderbird was really growly and low-mid. the triple neck wal bass was also interesting in tone as was his les paul recording bass.
It's a "non-reverse" - the Thunderbird II, that is.
Actually Miguel, Chris played a 1966 Pelham Blue non-reverse Thunderbird IV , not a ...

Funk: A place for Rickenbacker basses?
Since I joined this forum many years ago, I've matured and developed from a young, technically mediocre raging prog-fan who idolised Chris (Squire), Wetton and Lee into a rather decent funk-rock-pop player, (particularly slap and fingers) - a style I thought I'd never play. Today, I perform sessions ...

Mine too, it's all that extra tension.stevebasshead wrote:Hey, I've got one of those!! An English bed, that is. Sadly it too is developing bedstock issues...wints wrote:...As I suspected...The real RM bass has been under a English bed since the mid 60's...
I must give it a break and have no more than two-at-a-time in it.

Comprehensive replies as always, (I'm just the messenger.)
Thanks for clearing a few things up about it!
The roundwound tension issue is what steers me away from ever investing in an old 60s 4001, as a gigging bassist, I rather like the rigidity of my StingRay's fat neck at the moment!! :lol ...

Nice to speak again Jeff.
It's been refinished (professionally, obviously) to a nice Cream colour.
Asking price is £5,000, (or $8,300..)
A great investment if you're a huge Squire fan maybe? -Puts any 4001CS to shame when you can play the genuine article!!
