NGD 1975 Rickenbacker 430 Black

Received yesterday, a 1975 black 430. I was excited for this one as I love quirky models, yet it is still quintessentially a Rickenbacker. I’m curious to hear from anybody who may know more about the pick ups in this model? I found on here that they are just final covers over the pick up and don’t h...

Higains and HB1 swap from 620 to 330, need input and thoughts

I have a few Rics. My most recent purchase was a '67 335. (330 with vibrato). It had mostly original parts, but the pickups were changed out to the HB1 humbuckers. I do really like how they sound, and the guitar is amazing. I also have an '18 620, that I put early 90's higains into. Again, pickups s...

Re: ‘67 modded 330 (335) vs new 330, need help and insight

Surprisingly, the neck angle is still right where I want it and the 12’s have been on for a few days now. I did lower the bridge a bit, but that was just for personal taste.

Re: ‘67 modded 330 (335) vs new 330, need help and insight

I did buy it, and put 12’s on last night. It calculates to 139.4 lbs of pressure. The 10’s come out to 113.7. I know that’s more pressure, but I’ll take the risk and do a reset if needed. NGD posted in the vintage forum.

NGD 1967 Ric 335

It can yesterday, right before practice. I strung it up with some 12’s and ran out the door to jam. The guitar has been modded and changed a lot (which was why I could afford it. The tuners were changed to new Klusons (matching the originals), the pickups and electronics were swapped and it has Rick...

Re: Toaster Pickup differences

If you ever are looking to sell those 89 hi-gains hit me up. I’d love them to replace the modern ones in my 620.

Re: ‘67 modded 330 (335) vs new 330, need help and insight

Well I bought the ‘67, and it is on the way (Tuesday, fingers crossed). I appreciate all that insight! He offered it at $2k shipped. Given the vibrato and pickups I would have wanted, cheaper than a new one. I worked in a used shop for several years, and it’ll get a good once over and go in to some...

Re: ‘67 modded 330 (335) vs new 330, need help and insight

As with any used instruments, if you can, unless you have significant experience in looking at used instruments, have an independent knowledgable luthier check out items such as integrity of all the glue joints, neck alignment, truss rods, fret wear, etc., especially since a significant amount of w...

‘67 modded 330 (335) vs new 330, need help and insight

Looking at a 60’s 335 (vibrato). The body/bridge/and tailpiece are the only real original parts. It has been changed to HB1 pickups and new Kluson tuners. Pickguard has also been replaced with a new Ric guard. Biggest mod was that at one point it had full size humbuckers, but the holes were filled w...

Replaced 08 High Gains with 96 High Gains in 620

I had stock High Gains in my 620, and have never been thoroughly impressed. Earlier this week I purchased some 1996 High Gains (measuring 11k and 12k) and today got them in my 620. It’s like a blanket has been lifted when plugged in, and the pickups have much better balance. From my understanding, t...

Re: NGD: 1994 Rickenbacker 260 El Dorado

Got it set up and sounding good. The pickups are incredibly touch sensitive. Light strumming is crystalline and clear, but played hard the pickups drive nicely. They almost seem active, which I believe is what I read in the brochures from the 90s (no battery, but that the circuit creates an active l...

Re: NGD: 1994 Rickenbacker 260 El Dorado

Nice guitar! Don't see those too often. Yours looks to be in really nice shape too. I have a 1989 230 that I refinished in Blue Boy. I discovered while doing all of that work the earlier HB2 pickups are a little weaker than the later ones like yours with the embossed logo on the pickup. I personall...

Re: NGD: 1994 Rickenbacker 260 El Dorado

Very slick. I’ve never seen one of those in person before. I just received a.vintage Rickenbacker as well and it is also already in the register. I wrote to Peter to see if it could be added to my list of registered Rickenbacker. Good luck and nice score! What did you get recently, and congrats! Th...
