Ricks on "Rock'N'Roll Inventions" Ep 2
The Smithsonian Channel has a new series that started recently - "Rock'N'Roll Inventions" - that celebrates the role of invention and innovation in influencing rock music. As one would hope/expect, Rickenbacker has a strong presence, especially in the second episode "Going Electric" featuring ...

Re: Roll Call !!
Still checking here once a week or so, especially when something unusual shows up on EBay that might spark interest or questions. The problem w/FB in general is tracking multiple conversations/threads is a lot more cumbersome than on a tried and true forum format with sort and search options. So, it ...

Re: Who's still waiting on a 4003S?
Fwiw, Mus.Friend is showing fireglo, jetglo, mid.blue, and walnut S models in stock. If a regular buyer, there's also a 20% coupon that they're sending around for the holidays, making it a really attractive offer, even sight unseen. I bought a fireglo S from them in July, and it's an exceptional ...

Hi Max. Bring your daughter, we need to induce MRAS (Maximum Rickenbacker Acquisition Syndrome) into her for sure! Your guitars are certainly most welcome. :D The only thing we may ask is that your daughter ask before handling any of the instruments, yours excepted, of course :mrgreen ...

Re: MARF III INFO THREAD--15 NOV 2008
I've been a regular lurker and occasional poster of the forum for a year or two, have owned a half dozen Rick guitars and bass over the past 30 years and have purchased and sold guitars (directly and indirectly) from and to board members...even in the pre-internet era, as it turns out.

Re: Susanna Hoff's White-On-White Sig Prototype
Here she is playing another Ric. It looks like one of her signature models, in Tuxedo finish, with the top pickguard replaced with one of the white signature pickguards. At least, we think that's what it is.

Re: 360/12V66
There's also a member here with a mapleglo 370/12v66 who had the tuners inverted like one of Roger McGuinns guitars... I thought it looked pretty cool!

Re: Susanna Hoff's White-On-White Sig Prototype
OK, so I was finally able to distract my attention to the guitar itself for half a moment... what's she got going on with the selector switch? 3-way Tele-type or 5-way Strat? I imagine it would be less likely to pop out of top or bottom position than the standard toggle switch.

Re: Mitch has THE tone I love!
Echoing the sentiment re: Dynamico. Been listening to it quite a bit in recent months, and it sonically bridges the two eras (early 80's and now) very nicely. (Some other artists' 80's influences are too retro in a Yamaha DX7 synth-y way.) Let's Active and REM were definitely major influences on my ...

Re: The Smithereens live 1987
Very nice! There's a good bit of video available on YouTube for them. Between this clip and the recent Susanna Hoffs auction, I'm really jonesing for a 350. There's a sweet mapleglo ending tomorrow on ebay that may be worth the effort if the price doesn't rocket in the next 30 hours. ( http://cgi ...

The Cincinatti show was the 2nd night of the US tour...their first tour with Kenney Jones drumming after Keith Moon died. The first night was Pittsburgh and a group of friends and I road-tripped from Penn State to catch the show. Instead of an opening act, there was a 20+ minute preview of the film ...

Tom Petty sighting...Great idea for new sig model?
Did y'all catch this in today's Best Buy circular? A new Tom Petty DVD/CD set is coming out this week, so scattered throughout is this shot of TP with a fantastic looking 1997 complete with gold signature pickguards and TRC. It must be a fireglo that's yellowed by the stage lighting, but this would ...
