Hi! Does anyone know if Rickenbacker ever made an 8 Pole pickup for their lap steels with 8 strings? Or did they just use 6 or 7 pole pickups?

So I just got maybe a late 30s, early 40s Rick Electro B8 steel. It has 8 strings, chromed plates and a volume and Tone control on the treble side of the strings. Its pickup only has 7 pole pieces. Is this normal? Did Rickenbacker even have 8 pole pickups for their 8 string models?
