Re: Janglebox Settings
I have noticed that if I crank too much gain on the JB, my 330-12 will feedback, which I don't want. I do this to try and gain the most "McGuinn" tone I can. I'd say the optimum setting for me is 1:00-2:00 on both controls.

Re: Are the Byrds still relevant?
They are relevant in terms of their music being influential on bands old and young, but as musicians in their own right, no, they are not relevant. That doesn't mean I don't love the Byrds' music to this day. Quite the contrary. And no, I would absolutely not want to see Gene Parsons playing in a re...

Re: Professional Set Up
Over the years, I have realized that my Ricks need regular maintenance from a qualified tech who knows how to work on them. This is very important. Years ago. I took one of mine to a guy named Bill Baker in East Hanover, NJ. Bill had dome some setups on my six string guitars and I was pleased, but h...

Re: Roll Call !!
I have been very active lately on this forum, because I have cut back elsewhere. I used to spend more time at Let's Talk Guild, because I used to work for Guild and like some Guild models, but I have gotten annoyed at some of the attitudes over there. You have the purists who recoil in horror if you...

That's really nice. I'm generally not big on green anything, but I like that. Imagine playing a St. Patty's gig with that guitar.

Re: Guarding Your Rickenbackers
I have never altered the pickguards on my Ricks, but the top half of the guard on my AutumnGlo 330-12 was autographed by Roger McGuinn and Vince Martell of Vanilla Fudge, who's a friend of mine. I played it at home and on gigs that way for quite a while, and finally took it off and bought a replacem...

What's The Attraction To Flatwounds On The 12 Strings?
Can somebody explain the attraction to flatwound strings on Rick 12 strings? When I got my last 330-12, the seller had flatwounds on there (Pyramids, I think) and they sounded dull and dead. I immediately took it to my tech for a string change to Mangan roundwounds, which is what I have always used ...

Re: Rickenbacker "MoonGlo" Finish(Color)
I owned a vintage Rickenbacker with what appeared to be that very Moonglo finish many years ago. It was a 335, I think, with the dark cherry sunburst finish as I see in these photos. It had a vibrato. I remember thinking it was darker than the standard FireGlo finishes I'd seen. I sold that guitar f...

Re: I Went Back To White Guards
I like the white guard and factory knobs best, but that's just me. And yes, I have removed the Made In The USA oval sticker. Immediately! Some don't.

Re: Did You Ever See The The Jam?
I saw The Jam on their first US tour when they played somewhere in NYC. It might have been the Beacon Theatre. I liked them, but they didn't blow me away. They had lots of high energy, that's for sure. Weller played Ricks, of course. They played tracks from the first two albums.

Re: Laura Jane Grace (Against Me!) Shows off her Rickenbacke
I think she sounds like a twit. She can't even pronounce the name of the guitar the same way twice. Then, she smashed her two favorite Ricks into multiple pieces? Sorry, there's no place in my musical existence for her or her band.

I voted for FireGlo, Midnight Blue and Ruby, but I also like AutumnGlo, which was not included on the list. I also like MapleGlo, but you could only vote for three.

Re: Which is the better guitar to play the 330/6 or the 360/
If you ask us, you'll get differing opinions, because we all have our preferences. If you go play examples of both guitars, you'll know and be you will able to answer your own question. If you can't find local examples to play and buy one online, make sure the seller has a return policy. Both guitar...

Re: The Rickenbacker Moment That Brought You Onboard
It was two occurrences: Seeing Roger McGuinn and his 360-12 on TV playing "Mr. Tambourine Man," and Pete Townshend playing his Rose-Morris 1993 on Shindig, doing "I Can't Explain."

Re: Why Did You Let Your Rickenbacker Go?
I sold the Ruby Red 360 I bought a few years ago for reasons that still elude me. It wasn't getting much playing time for starters. I think the main reason was, I just didn't think I had the need for a Rick six string anywhere on my gigs. I didn't know what to do with it. Since buying the MB 620 las...
