Fugazi

So, as you can see by my number of posts, along with my joining date, I am a professional lurker.

However, when I saw there was going to be a section of the forum on the punk rock, I had to start a Fugazi thread.

Guy Picciotto makes some fantastic, albeit atypical, sounds come from a 330. And ...

I mostly lurk, but I have to comment on the technicalities of Pauls comment:

“If we're not getting any of the "acoustic" sound through the pickups, then acoustic feedback would never be a problem with hollow or semi-solid guitars. But the fact that it exists is fairly conclusive proof that ...

Larrivee Guitars

Do any of the other rickophiles out there have a thing for Larrivee acoustic guitars.
I ask for a few reasons. First, I have a model L-05, and it is an absolutely fantastic instrument.
Second, I think that Larrivee has a lot in common with Rickenbacker. They are both relatively small manufacturers ...

E-bay madness

I don’t get it:

360/12 auction

Does anyone have any insight on why someone is willing to pay $150 more than list price for 2004 360/12? Are Rics that hard to come by now? I understand paying a bit more to have it now instead of waiting for one to be built, but this is a standard 360/12 going ...

Seeing that I have only made a few posts, I’ll try not to ruffle too many feathers.

I think something we have to remember is that as far as RIC is concerned, no individual customer has an order with them. Only dealers have orders. The fact that a guitar in a dealers order has already been ...

Yea, it was a C58, I think the Jetglo just made me think 64.
Anyway Kenny, have you heard of any other missing "r"s?

Missing "r" on truss rod cover 325C64

I was in Guitar Center in Seattle yesterday, and to my surprise there were 2 Rics there. A 360 and a 325C64, both Jetglow.

I took a double take at the C64. It’s a beautiful guitar. But much to my surprise the trussrod cover clearly said Rickenbacke. There was no “r” on the end. Its not like it ...

Hey Joel-
I have both a 330 and a 620/12. The major difference I find (except the 6 extra strings) is how small the 620 feels after playing the 330. The necks are the same, and the sound is pretty much the same. As far as playing sitting down, the 620 doesn’t have the “hip” that a 330 does, so it ...

Justin-
I think you should go back down to Sam Ash and plug that 330 into a Marshall. You’re gonna love the way it sounds. I would say that my 330 and my 620 sound very similar (a little hard to tell, because my 620 is a 12 string). The 330 and 620 have the exact same electronics. The 620 may have ...

If you factor in inflation, its not that unbleievable. $275 from 1977 comes out to over $800 in 2003. What is amazing is $800 from 1977 is over $2300 today.

If anyone is interested, here is a money / time converter.

I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that your 12 string didn't stay in tune due to the "R" tailpiece. Granted, they are a bit of hassle when re-stringing, but my 620/12, with "R", stays in tune better than any guitar I have ever owned.

I have a 620/12 that I play “cranked”. I play through a Sunn Sentura, which is 60W tube head from the late 60s. I also use an Ibanez tube screamer, with the drive turned up about half way. The tone is great, a very full sound with a hint of the jangle coming through.

BTW, I also play my 330 ...

I completly agree with Jeff about the bass being ruined with a signature. Autographs just aren't worth that much (with rare exceptions). At the very least, he could have signed the pick-guard.

It will be interesting to see how the auction goes with this "added value" signature

I play my 330/6 and 620/12 (both jetglow) through:

Late 60s Sunn Sentura II, 60W with a pair of KT88 power tubes. This is running into a 4x12 cabinet with Celestion 30W speakers. This is a fantastic sounding rig, a very full sound. The ring of the 12 string is balanced by a nice bottom end.
