I tried the new bridge on my 4003SW converted to fretless and found that I couldn’t get the action as low as the with old bridge. Ended up putting the old one back on.

Love the Optima 4099 set. I’ve had the same set on my 81 4001 for about 10 years.
Love the feel and the vintage thump.

I also have a 2020 4003CBAUT that has no problems getting the action as low as I like.


Are the frets taller on your 2020 bass?

I seem to recall Paul W. telling me that the factory would take away quite a bit of fret material, and that it's always been that way. I wonder if newer instruments ...

I've read some people have had issues with the v2 tail not allowing the action to go low enough -- or at least as low as the original -- and it's usually blamed on the design of the new saddles and their adjustment; does anyone who uses one have thoughts about this? I have heard this complaint ...

Looks like they sold all of this lastest batch but they say they have more on order.

I picked up of these beauties back in 2020.. absolutely love it!

It sounds like the problem is that your rods are not being held in place by the aluminum block after bending the neck to desired position. Try using a metal file on the beveled side of the hair pin rods to sharpen the edge. This will help to hold them snug against the block. Also helps ...

Looking at the gallery here at the RRF there are a couple of examples of 1967 neck thru 4000’s that look factory routed.
None of the neck thru 72’s in the gallery have routs. The first examples of routed set neck 4000’s pop up in 76.
After 76 it looks like there are examples of both routed and not ...

Where you able to get any info about the 3000? I dont recall ever seeing a 3000 quite like that.
