Do more frets relate to greater neck stability?sloop_john_b wrote:The huge difference between the two is 21 frets (v64) versus 24 frets (WB).
The 21-fret is vintage-spec, but the 24-fret will likely never need a neck reset.

360/12 model questions
What differences are there between the 360/12-WB and the 360-12 V64, besides the tailpiece?
Can the 'R' tailpiece on the WB be changed for the tailpiece style of the V64?

McCartney's Fender amp
In the Pure McCartney virtual reality video series, shot in a home studio of his, there is a Fender amp visible. Any idea what model it is?

Re: McCartney's Rickenbacker 4001S neck
The detailed portrait of McCartney's bass in the book, taken probably in the '90s or early oughts (I think) shows no evidence of binding on the heel of the fingerboard. I think it's a reflection in that old shot. To which book are you referring?     Bug Eyed.gif ...

Re: McCartney's 360/12
The following video has a good shot of the headstock at 22 seconds. The screenshot was too large for me to include in a post.

McCartney's 360/12
In the 80s, Paul McCartney was shown with a left-handed Rickenbacker 360/12WB with a reverse headstock. The photo of him holding the guitar is from the All The Best tv promo, from 1987. It popped up again in the video shoot for Queenie Eye (the rack photo is from this) in 2013. I'm curious if anyone...

Re: McCartney's Rickenbacker 4001S neck
I see them on the 7th, 9th, and 12th frets, too. Is that binding on the heel end of the fingerboard in that photo of Mal, or just a really bright reflection off the end grain of the fingerboard? Looks like binding to me. Amazing that we still learn things about this bass! Hm... what makes you think...

What I meant was about the other (top) side that is not in the photo. So far I've not been able to find any images of this side.teeder wrote:In that picture, it sure does look like markers on that side.

Bass amp choice: Ashdown vs Mesa
Thoughts wanted on the differences between these two heads. Though I listed cabs I'm more open to options with those. 1. Ashdown ABM 500 EVO II, Ashdown 4x10 cab 2. Mesa Boogie 400+, Mesa 2x15 cab I'm getting back into playing bass after several years away from it and need an amp. Mainly playing at ...

Was McCartney's a Derlin nut? Mark Arnquist has mentioned it to be a bone nut.rickfan60 wrote:

McCartney's Rickenbacker 4001S neck
Does anyone know if Paul's Ric 4001S has side dot markers on both sides of the neck? His bass was constructed with a right-handed neck. On a lefty instrument, this would mean the neck side dot markers would be facing downwards (as you can see in the photo) instead of the usual upwards. However, with...

Too bad the interview with Paul has not survived the sands of time (at least on the links earlier in the thread). Sounds like an amazing experience.
