It was around $150 which includes several followups as the setup shifts around, which is nice. That's the problem I had with other techs, the setup is great when you get it back but then a few days later the wood and parts may have continued to shift so it's out again.

I hear that the 4001C64S has a sealer coat only finish to replicate McCartney's bass after it was sanded down. Can anyone comment on how the sealer coat only finish feels compared to usual smooth conversion varnish or lacquer finishes?

I ended up taking my 12 string to Acquire Guitars in Butler, NJ and he did an excellent job with it.

Besides the winging value (8K for 70s vs 12K for modern), are there any other ways the bridge pickups on a modern 4003 differ from a 70s one? Would a modern bridge pickup dewound to the right value sound like a 70s one?

@jps: How has the durability of the D'Addario strings been for you? When I was younger I used mainly D'Addario but broke strings pretty frequently. But then those were cheaper guitars that probably did not have great quality of the nut or saddle.
