For me, the aesthetics of toaster vs higain is less noticeable than that of 21 fret vs 24. I like both kinds of pickups, they make different sounds. Visually, I get 5-10 feet away from the instrument and can’t tell a difference, unless the lighting is dead on. Smaller headstocks, 21-fret fingerboard...

You’re right - it slipped my mind that there’s nowhere near the neck problems on, say, a 360/12V64 vs. a ‘60s 360/12.

I feel a modern-day 330/12 MG in my future.

The only minor issue was that, when on the neck pickup selector, the "bridge" amp still got some signal, not insignificant but also not like you'd expect at full bore. I'm guessing that may be because it's a relatively cheap cable in the scheme of things vs. a Rickenbacker or other active...
