Bill, don't have her special order anything that's not in stock; it could take until after January (I think they finished making 370s for a while).

Just have her figure out if he'd want FireGlo, MapleGlo, or Montezuma Brown and order one from stock here: http://www.voxshowroom.com/northcoast ...

Pearl, but only if you can make a matching truss-rod cover.

Yeah, it's up to personal preference, but most people already have the long-ass mono cables, and to switch guitars, you can just pull the one to the amp you want and plug it in. I won't deny that there are multiple ways for such a setup to go wrong, but it would look pretty cool onstage with the ...

Well, it looks like you'll be coming in to the train station right across the river from the Sears Tower, so any downtown/loop hotels are just a couple to a few blocks away.

If you want a cool hotel and money isn't an issue, the W Hotel is on the opposite side of the downtown area, but you could ...

Rick-O-Sound on the cheap

I happened to stop by my local DJ supply store this evening and found that they had exactly what I was looking for: a Y adapter with a 1/4" stereo plug to two 1/4" mono jacks. It's a Hosa model YPP-117 and it only cost $7. It's pretty solid and all three ends are satisfyingly grippy.

I plugged ...

I just bought my 370/12 from NCM, and it was quick and easy. You have to communicate via email and order via fax, but it's worth it.

It's art by the emotion and discussion it creates. It's self-indulgent, iconoclastic art, but it is art.

I don't mind someone smashing the **** out of some Squire Strat, but that does mean the musician doesn't respect the audience enough to play that song on a high quality guitar. I just like to ...

Man, this guitar is awesome. I don't have my 12 string calluses yet, but already I'm playing better than on my Strat. It sounds great plugged into my Blues Jr., clean or through my Korg ToneWorks AX1G, or unplugged. My roommate says it's even easier to listen to me practice.

The serial number ...

The phoenix egg is in the nest. Repeat: the egg is in the nest. I'll let you know after I incubate it a little and hatch it.

The computer printed invoice says "Layaway", which obviously means "special order" since I paid in full on that day. It also lists the guitar as an "04 Rickenbacker 370-12 fireglo", so I could argue that they have to get me one that Ric considers to be a 2004 model. And the carbon copy sales slip ...

The latest: Phil called Rickenbacker and they said they could put a third pickup on one of the 360/12 FGs he had previously ordered, but we have no idea what the timeframe for that would be. I'm having him call another store that has a 370/12 VP FG to see if he can buy it from them. If not, I'll get ...

First, thanks for the support guys. Maybe I'll print out this thread and bring it with me.

It's pretty clear that this woman did not have a standing order. Phil even admitted that it's not something he would order or keep in stock just for kicks. I don't know if she was specifically looking for a ...

I didn't just put down a deposit, I paid for the whole thing with a credit card when I ordered it! (aaarrrgh!)

I'm not super-crazy about resale value; I don't want to hack up a beautiful new guitar and I'm not going to put Coldplay stickers on it or anything, but I do plan on using it, recording ...

They sold my 370/12 right out from under me!

Okay, so I ordered a 370/12 in Fireglo on December 12, 2004 from Phil at my local shop. Last week, I saw on Rick's website that they had shipped it, so I called in to see if they got it yet. It turns out that some woman also saw it on the website and called the shop a few minutes after it arrived to ...
