As closure: this arrived unsolicited today from the dealer today via email...

Dear Customer,

We regretfully inform you that we must cancel your outstanding order for the Rickenbacker guitar.

Effective immediately, we will no longer be carrying Rickenbacker products.

We sincerely ...

I'd like to add that my original post wasn't to imply that this was the biggest problem on the planet. This is the Ric forum, and I had a topic of interest to the Ric community, so I started the thread. Since M123 is a very large and visible Internet retailer, their loss as a dealer made the ...

M123 used to have a deposit policy for their Rics. Not all Rics, but the ones other than the 360, 360/12, and 4003 models with standard features. They eventually did away with the deposit policy. Since mine were under deposit I would have lost my 20% down deposit for each Ric on special order that I ...

Wow - my original post caused quite a discussion! I just wish I didn't have to lose 15 months waiting for orders (with deposits) which were ultimately cancelled. I didn't want my deposit money back -- I just didn't want to lose my wait in line. Anyway, the Rics have been reordered by a storefront ...

Another interesting thing about 123/WWBW was the gradual reduction in Ric offerings. Up until about 4 weeks ago they listed the full line on their website (Dakotas up to 381s and fancy basses). Beginning about 2 weeks ago I noticed line had shrunk from 30 or so models down to about 15, with most of ...

The instruments were already on order, and for quite a while. In your opinion, will they still be made and just given to another retailer, or will their production be cancelled?

Let's see...

I had a 4003FL in Mapleglo, a 330VPVB in Fireglo (don't ask why!) and a Fireglo Mandolin. Yes, I know, a kooky selection of Rics, but I was in no hurry and was willing to wait. Lately I've been buying from Dave's Guitar, who has the best prices on the planet. Again, I just didn't ...

Thanks! I would have cancelled the orders sooner but I had non refundable deposits on them so figured I'd wait it out. The good news is I am getting my deposits back. The bad news is I'll probably have to wait another 2 years for my special orders. By then I'll be too old to play!

Music123.com -- No Longer a Mail Order Ric Dealer!

I had three Rics on order, some for as much as 15 months, with Music123.com and its sister site Woodwind and Brasswind (WWBW.com). A random check of their sites today showed that searches for Rickenbacker where coming up empty. When I called they admitted that they had dropped the line due to ...

Thanks everyone! I was looking at the reissues and with the current prices inching ever closer to the asking price of this one I just had to get it.

The only thing I'd like to do is swap the strings out for a fresh pair. Can anyone recommend a set that I should use? I was going to string her up ...

1965 Ric 365: My First Vintage Ric!

I've been keeping my eye on this old 365 for some time. It was getting to the point where a new Ric with the vintage style pickups, vibrato, and vintage case was approaching the cost of what I was able to buy this one for. So, I took the plunge! Other than for some nicks in the back of the neck the ...

Lap Steel -- Info Wanted Please

Hi,

I have a great little lap steel with an original silver case (red lining) and matching Rickenbacker M-8-E amplifier. The lap steel can be seen at http://home.earthlink.net/~mborkum/ and has the serial number on the jack plate of U278. Any help in dating (or any other info on) this instrument ...

Great -- time to order a bowtie...

This little guitar will be a keeper. Perhaps some day I'll even make sense out of what-the-heck the oven-knobbed controls actually do as I sure can't seem to figure them out...!
