Re: '57-'62 4000 series original pickguard

What Joey said.... that world would be a damned boring place if everything looked the same.

Re: New Video - How to Restring Your Rickenbacker 4005 Bass

I like the strings that came on my 4005v, so I doubt I'll be changing them any time soon. Great video though, will keep it for future reference. Thanks so much for posting it!

Re: Does today's 4003s sound different than today's 4003?

I actually made my 2000 4003s5 ROS compatible. I couldn't hear any difference live or recorded between the two versions.

Re: 4005V - NBD

Congratulations a beautiful score. I too have welcomed one to my house last month (a MG 4005V). I agree with all you said but I have no idea what material is used in the shark fins. They are pretty though. One thing that really blew me away was the neck. I have has a '74 4002 since '74. The best ...

Yep that one helped me decide to pull the trigger... last Monday. Will review after I get in into my grubby little hands!

Re: Replace pickup selector switch with blend knob

Not sure which bass you are talking about. The two Volume knobs on 4001/4003 sorta already do that/ I did it (the blend) with my 4004C and love it. it originally had a single Volume for both pickups. HTH

Re: 4003 Treble Tone pot issues.

Maybe look at the ROS jack and make sure it is functioning properly. I think I'd reheat all of the solder joints (both ends of the wires) with the pot in question.

Re: Old to new bridge conversion

Yes, that is why I replaced mine. It had developed a little lift a couple of decades ago. It seemed to stabilize for a while then seemed to get active again, showing tiny signs of movement. I was thinking of adding two holes to the tailpiece (like my 4003S5 has but then figured I'd try the new ...

Re: Old to new bridge conversion

I did it to my '74 4001. Take the old one off, clean the area. pace the template with existing screws/screw holes and drill the three little new holes. Mount the new hardware and ground wire and restring. Pretty much that easy. There is no tonal or sound difference I could hear. Intonation and ...

Re: Current horseshoe vs highgain

My brief experience here -

I have never played an original HS. I have heard many played over the years but I personally not played one. I have an original Lollar (Law Suite) HS, Which I have on my '74 4001. I played a RI HS about a year after they first cam out.

So to me the original Rickenbacker ...
