Re: Please Tell Us About Octoberfest

"Herbstkrimes" is a nice word creation, would spell with "c" though.... Oktoberfest faking has something to do with it... Oh, sorry, this automatic spell correction has fooled me, I meant "Herbstkirmes", of course. Isn´t it awful that Apple and Microsoft al...

Re: Please Tell Us About Octoberfest

Alex has forgotten to mention that this time we (Mönchengladbach) have won the soccer game against FC Bayern München in Munich ;-) ... By the way - an Octoberfest is not an exclusive event to Munich or Bavaria, the so-called "Herbstkrimes" (autumn fair) is celebrated in all of Northern Ger...

Thank you very much. I like it still. And the playability and sound also have improved a great deal.

Re: Beatles Museum in Halle / Germany

Actually this is more a Beatles souvenir shop with a very clever marketing strategy than a real museum. I have been there now and then when they still were in Cologne. I suppose they went to Halle to get subsidies from the local goverment for their "museum", which they did not get in Colog...

Re: Out of tune 650C

The Schaller M6 Mini tuners on your 650C should be very stable and usually last a lifetime - nevertheless there might be mechanical problems with the tuners - very unusual, but not completely unthinkable. There also might be problems with the general setup of the guitar, the trussrods or the nut. Yo...

Re: A unique Rickenbacker 650

I sold a 650A/VT a few years back. Wonder if that's mine ... Did you sell it to the Guitar Center in Danvers, MA? That´s where I bought mine. This must have been in 1999 or 2000, I think. The black Godin is the dog's b***s too. What does the expression "dog´s b***s" mean? :) Sorry, I am n...

Re: A unique Rickenbacker 650

+1! Very cool, thanks for posting the photos! I think that's my favorite 650 ever. :D Thank you. I must admit that my 650AVH still is my own personal favorite among all 650s (and most other RICs). Here is a photograph of my whole "collection". The Fender Strat is currently for sale on eba...

Re: A unique Rickenbacker 650

I guess it's basically the Dakota. Yes, it WAS a "Dakota", now it IS the one and only "Erkelenz" ... By the way, if somebody would like to buy the chrome pickguard, the fixed bridge or a set of Schaller M6 Minis, just send me a PM. I would even consider to sell the humbuc...

Re: A unique Rickenbacker 650

Anyway looks very cool - how will it age, is what I wonder about though. Will it slowly turn yellowish in spots, or is it supposed to stay white? This finish will probably stay white for a very, very long time. Walter uses high quality modern materials - like me he is not a fan of artifical "v...

Re: A unique Rickenbacker 650

[... "shave off" a little of the bulky neck of the 650D ... The neck on my former 650C was not at all bulky. I am surprised that the 650 neck would be much different unless they were still hand made at some point. From my experience (and some research I did) I can tell that the 650D usual...

Re: A unique Rickenbacker 650

AND you have my dream Ric... a vibrato-equipped Atlantis? Jealous. Yes, this is my workhorse guitar. It is the one I usually take to gigs, rehearsals and sessions. Nowadays it is sometimes replaced by my hand-built Kraushaar-guitar, but the 650AVH still is the most versatile guitar I own. A ...

A unique Rickenbacker 650

A week ago I received my modified 650D back from Walter Kraushaar: http://www.kraushaar-gitarren.de/ Now it is a unique 650 with a white polyurethane (DD) finish, a black metal pickguard, a Bigsby B5, a Schaller roller bridge, Schaller locking tuners M6 topmount and a 12k toaster pickup in the bridg...

50st anniversary of the Beatles´ arrival in Hamburg

Today the media in Germany is reminding of the 50st anniversary of the Beatles´ arrival in Hamburg. This morning the "Deutschlandfunk" (a public radio station) broadcasted an interesting feature including an old interview in which a stupid interviewer tells Paul: "Viele Menschen denke...

Re: A foreigner´s view on the USA ...

The people are more friendly, more tolerant, they do not tell you what you should do or how you should live all the time. This is great. This is interesting to me. I have only visited Germany, never lived there, although I have American friends living there now and they really like it. I've heard a...
