Re: 4003 Pickups & Impedance

Steve, I prefer the 70s 8.4K sound to the current 11-12k sound. I like the better clarity of the sound. That is why i had the '73 higain and the 8.6k magnetic horsey on that bass when I had it.

Iain, if you go with the BADASS II bridge, you will need a plate like this:

Re: Project Bass

Is there a source for just chrome pickup ring for the Bridge pickup without buying the whole OEM assembly? People part out brand new Ricks on E-Bay charging $150 just for the ring itself, or you can buy the whole assembly including pickup, all hardware, etc.for $150 on Pick of the Ricks. Amazing wh...

Re: Gaussing Mr Ed

John, No big deal! I'm right a very small fraction of the time!! :D I'm told the green bobbin pups are just the two slabs , top and bottom, and no inner core. The pole pieces just determine how wide the two slabs are. From what I have heard, the pup re-winders hate re winding these because of the l...

Re: Re-mixed "The Yes Album"

I remember back in the late 80s when I was working on my CD player to improve the sound and writing about it, I listened to the CD of TYA and was astounded to hear the needle riding in the groove, meaning they did not digitize from tape but from a record!

I'll have to get this remastering.

If your HDD magnets are thick enough, you can charge them like this: http://files.rickresource.com/tech/magnet-shoes.jpg Info I've garnered: http://files.rickresource.com/tech/Re-Magnetizing%20Horseshoes.rtf There is also a thread with pics showing shoes being put on a large woofer's magnet structur...

We have a saying about certain odd thing that happen on the island = OOG. Only On Guam. So I tune in Sunday night to see Antiques Road Show and it is in St. Paul, MN     which is a far cry from LA!! I'll keep watching. We're a day ahead so it'll show up sooner or later!!...

Re: aligning hipshot bridge

Side-to-side would be easy using the E and G strings to locate position to have the strings the same distance from the edge of the fretboard. Where to mount as to distance to the end of the body, my 1975 4001 has the screw holes 75mm from the body end measured at the center of the skunk stripe. And ...
