Good point. Never thought of that. Not that I would want one on the case. It would probably just get torn off. I like the metal tag by the latch. Seems to make more sense. I know Fender used to have their logo on earlier cases.

Was that a single pickup 620 Petty was playing? Never saw one of those before, is it a custom job?

Hubert Sumlin used a Ric for a while when he was playing with Howlin' Wolf. I think Ric guitars have been unfairly stereotyped as not being a good blues guitar. Most blues players picked up what was handy and cheap. That's why so many players had those cheapo Japanese guitars. Rics were expensive ...

Congrats on the 620. I just took delivery of a 620-12 last week and I can relate to your excitement. Rics are wonderful instruments and certainly unique. There are many knock-offs of Fenders and Gibsons, but a Ric is always a Ric. Welcome to the club.

Replacing tailpiece

I have a 620-12 and want to replace the "R" tailpiece with the Trapeze tailpiece. I'm told that the holder for the trapeze tailpiece has the screw holes in places different from the "R"tailpiece holder. I assume this will mean drilling new holes in the guitar. I thought it would be a fairly simple ...

I just got a 620-12 (2004) and it came with the Toasters. You'll really like the sound.

I was figuring I would have to cut the nut. I may just leave it and learn how to play it with the lo-hi setup. Perhaps someday I'll change the nut.

Well, I got the guitar. Looks like new, actually. Whoever had it before string the bottom three strings backwards, crossing them into the tuners, no big deal. Strings need to be changed anyway. In years past I've owned a Gibson & Framus 12-strings (both electric), and I would string them hi-lo, as ...

I figured it was hype. I did check the Ric site and no news on that. Then again, isn't there something about the Ric-O-Sound being discontinued?

Vintage pickups to be discontinued?

I read a post selling a Ric 350 on Harmony Central that stated the seller heard that Ric Vintage pickups will be discontinued. Seems like a pretty wild rumor, or a misleading sales tactic. Any truth to this?

Yeah, it was the first thing that came to mind. Funny, I've never modded any of my guitars. Always used them stock, or however they came if bought used. But for some reason I thought this guitar deserves the trapeze.
Are they usually sold in two pieces?

Well, I ordered it, should be here by Friday. Here's a pic. Sorry it's so fuzzy, but I had to reduce it so much to post it that it lost a lot of clarity.
