Re: Stick/gummy finish
I left mine out of their cases for a long time, and it didn't improve anything unfortunately. It must be something to do with the Rick finish, because I've got other guitars of different brands with different types of finish, all stored in exactly the same way, and it's only the Rickenbackers that f...

Re: Stick/gummy finish
Thanks for the tips. I'll take all five guitars out of their cases and store them in the open air in a spare room and see what happens as time goes by.

Re: Stick/gummy finish
Thanks for the tips. I'm a bit distraught about it because it's literally $10000 worth of destruction there. One thing I've realized is that all of the "sticky" ones were also stored in their original Rickenbacker cardboard cartons as well as their cases, but the ones that are okay were no...

Stick/gummy finish
Hi all, haven't visited here in ages, but I've discovered a finish problem that I'm hoping to get some answers to. Back in 2006/07 my band was making plenty of money on weekends and I was totally obsessed with Rickenbackers, so I was spending my band earnings on new Rics. Some of these were almost n...

Re: Ric hi-gains iwth adjustable pole pieces
I remember before the adjustable ones started to be fitted at the factory there were many threads on forums with people saying that the volume on their high "E" string was too quiet (I suffered from that on a couple of non-adjustable hi-gained equipped Rics myself). I believe the adjustabl...

Re: Finish getting tacky
It'd be an excuse to come over for a holiday. Claim it as work related expenses even. I'm sure JH would pay in the interests of company R&D. It's nice and warm here right now. :D Oh well, at least one thing I have learned from this thread is that it's not my own cleaning routine that had caused ...

Re: Finish getting tacky
Thanks again Paul. While you were typing that I was editing my last post and added a second paragraph with another question. If you could have a read and offer your opinion I'd appreciate it

Re: Finish getting tacky
Thanks for the reply Paul. Just to add a little info after reading your comments... I purchased the guitar direct from Shinseido (Japan Ric distributor) as a NOS guitar, so presumably it had just been stored in their warehouse from manufacture until I purchased it rather than being on display on a d...

Finish getting tacky
I discovered a very worrying issue with one of my rarely used 330s tonight. I took it out of its case for the first time in a long time tonight and discovered that the finish was a little tacky. I'm hoping I can get some advice here about what could have caused it and what if anything can be done ab...

Re: Rickenbacker in australia
Oh, I just re-read your post and saw that you've already snagged a LH Rickenbacker from London. Congrats on the purchase. Hope you love it.

Re: Rickenbacker in australia
Hi Beatlejohn, Just like your recent experience, towards the end of the period when Aus still had a Ric distributor I emailed a New York dealer pleading to buy a Blueburst 330 off them (the orders had ceased for BBR guitars by then so I couldn't place a new order here at home), but they refused due ...

Re: How Many Guitars Do You Take On A Gig?
Always two. And they're usually pretty much identical, just so I can swap guitars in a flash mid set (or sometimes mid song) when a string breaks without having to worry about amp settings. At the moment it's two Teles, but when I was using my Ricks full time it was my Desert Gold 330 as my main gui...

Re: Rickenbacker in australia
During an email conversation with a senior RIC employee in 2006 or early 2007 I was told that because Australia didn't have its own RIC distributor then I would in fact be allowed to purchase a new Rickenbacker guitar from any US dealer. At the time I was getting great service and reasonable prices ...

Re: im feeling blue
I feel the love of the blue too. I have a BBR 330 like yours, plus two BBR 620s. All are stunners. I wish I could have one of everything in this colour!

Re: Midnight Blue Finish
I have seen photos of those silver pick guards on BBR guitars (probably on this forum somewhere), and I was very impressed by the look. I think they suit that finish perfectly.
