Re: RickySounds Wide-Spread Nut for 12-Strings
I have a RickySounds wide nut on my 370/12 and I must admit that I was concerned about the spread being too wide. It turns out that was not much of a problem although I'm not sure why. As you can see from the photo, the high E string is *very* close to the edge. However, playing the guitar, the stri...

Re: Truss rod cover screws
LOL! @Tommy, I put them away for safe keeping in a small container just like @Espidog said. It was *really* safe because I couldn't find it. However ... I did find it last night!! Yay.

Re: Truss rod cover screws
Thanks for all the replies, folks. I'm in Canada and we don't have Ace or McMaster here but we do have a chain called Home Hardware that should have #3 x 3/8 screws. I'll be off there today and will pick up some.

Keith

Truss rod cover screws
Well, I have gone and done it ... took the truss rod cover off and lost the screws. Doh!
Does anyone know the exact size of these screws so I can find replacements.
Cheers,
Keith

Re: Rickysounds wide & close nut experience?
I did this on my 370/12 and it made a huge difference in the playability of the instrument. However, I did find that the first fret string height was really high (like 50 thousandths) so I sanded it down to a more reasonable height (I usually aim for about 20 thousandths). Also I found that I had to...

Re: Fretting fingers not suited to Ric-style string set-up?
Have you considered trying the wide-spaced nut from RickySounds in the UK? I replaced the nut on my 370/12 a while ago and it made a world of difference for the playibility of the guitar.

Re: Bridge Cover Adjustment
I'd just stick something in there somewhere to eat up the slack- small stainless washers, rubber washers, O-rings, etc. That is what I thought I might do. Maybe I'll take a trip to the local hardware store tomorrow and see what I can dig up. I'd rather leave the cover on than remove it since I rest...

Re: Bridge Cover Adjustment
Here is a photo. Pretty hard to see the cover plate screw under the bridge assembly but if you look carefully you can see that it is contacting the base plate, even without being fully screwed in. Of course this means that the bridge cover flops about when I play the guitar. If I screw it in any fur...

Bridge Cover Adjustment
Hi folks. I'm just about finished setting up my 370/12. Installed Rickysounds wide nut for a great improvement in string width and playability (for me at least). I set the neck relief and the action to my preferences and the instrument now plays and sounds just great! One thing however is that the b...

Re: Tuning the twelve string
The string seems to be breaking at the tuning machine, definitely not at the bridge. I usually try to get a number of winds around the post. I put a 0.010 gauge string on yesterday and tuned it up very slowly and was able to get it to pitch without breaking it. When I broke the two strings, I could ...

Re: Tuning the twelve string
Good point. I've never purchased single strings at a local store. I don't even know if they sell them that way but I will find out shortly.

Re: Tuning the twelve string
Yes, I was pretty sure it is an octave. I'm currently using a Pick of the Ricks compressed set with the octave G being a 10p and the fundamental is a 20w. Guess I'll have to break into another set for a 10p. Hate to do that as I have order them in and wait for them. I just wanna play!

Tuning the twelve string
Hi all. Apologies if this has been asked before. I did bit of a search but found nothing. I've had my 370/12 for about 6 weeks now and have twice broken the G octave string while tuning it to pitch. Is this because I'm tuning it too high? Is it supposed to be tuned in unison with the G fundamental s...

Re: Why No 360/12 Wide neck - like the 1993/Plus
I have ordered and received a Rickysounds wide 12-string nut to move the strings apart so that I can play my Rick more effectively. Thanks for the info, Jangleman. I must say that the service from Rickysounds is exceptional. *Very* fast shipping for a transatlantic/customs journey. The nut is cut fo...
