thanks john, the tubes were not only not seated properly, they were about to fall out! i play pretty loud, must have shook em loose. they have springs "holding" them in place, but not doing a very good job of it. any old school tricks i should know about to get these bad boys to stay put? works fine ...

Craig, I can think of a three reasons right off. Reseat all the tubes so they are fully into their sockets. Second, the bias settings may be way off. took the 4 knob keely back. the comp review guy was dead on about that one. thin and no vibe. the guys at the bass shop implored me to try the 2 knob keely. how can the one with 2 knobs be better than the one with 4? didnt make since to me but i obliged. it is a totally different compressor. nice ...
