Re: keep old or get new?

thanks john, the tubes were not only not seated properly, they were about to fall out! i play pretty loud, must have shook em loose. they have springs "holding" them in place, but not doing a very good job of it. any old school tricks i should know about to get these bad boys to stay put? works fine ...

Re: keep old or get new?

Craig, I can think of a three reasons right off. Reseat all the tubes so they are fully into their sockets. Second, the bias settings may be way off. Third, there could be a bad tube, especially a final tube. Basically, there is a DC voltage that shouldn't be there and the protection circuitry is ...

Re: keep old or get new?

Craig, I can practically guarantee you'll get some $$ off if you go to the store well armed. Take pic of a 4003 and a V63 along with a copy of a quote for a new 4003FG from Musician's friend. GC has a 30 day return policy so I think they will see you as meaning business and give you back some green ...

Re: a break from politics / on to compressors

Try the Aphex:

Jeff Scott recommended it to me and I have been very happy with it - very neutral sounding. And it smooths things out nicely. We had a thread on this about 6-8 months ago with a lot of useful info in it.

ahhhh. thanks john ...

Re: keep old or get new?

Unless you're willing and able to live on $3.00 a day, I'd give the altruistic schtick a rest. It is not "one world" but at the rate the living standard of the middle class here is falling it might be one day. Until then, I'm going to do my dead leval best to slow that long slide into oblivion ...

a break from politics / on to compressors

looking for a killer compressor for the front end of my new ric/svt combo. prefer a pedal if possible. i would like it to get pretty squishy without loosing the bottom end or being too terribly noisy. so far i have tried a boss cs-3 and a keely. the keely came highly recommended from my local ...

Re: keep old or get new?

He also said the Beatles were bigger than Jesus, so it's best not to quote him out of context here either.

context: imagine there's no countries, it isn't hard to do...
imagine no posessions, i wonder if you can
no need for greed or hunger, a brotherhood of man
imagine all the people, sharing ...
