Re: Lemmy's first Rickenbacker

Really interesting stuff this... its often been said but never proved but lets face it we all (well lots of us) had early days with no money and bought a dream bass at a cheap price when faking was rife, I think maybe Lemmy loved the style, sound and image and he definatley put it right on the map ...

Re: Real, or fake?

It is a fake but Lamborghini have taken the opinion that it is a car that they no longer make so they don't bother about it (these replica's even now get invited to lamborghini owner club meets in england now).
The other thing is they don't have the problem of people trying to sell them as the real ...

Re: Real, or fake?

It's been discussed a million times before, but passing off fakes as either copies or genuine Rickenbackers is not the issue.

All Rickenbacker guitar shapes and designs are owned by RIC, and cannot be legally copied regardless of whether they are labelled as genuine or as copies.

Fraud is not the ...

Re: Why Does Bass Forum Traffic Dwarf All Others?

I think it has been said already but here goes... The rick bass is the master of all music styles where as the rick guitar seems to generally be a 60's rock and roll type of thing (not many rock guitarist's would use one of there guitars as most I have spoke to quite frankly say they are cr4p).
On ...

Re: Did You Ever Have One Of Those Days?

John... it was lemmy (of motorhead fame) that made that statement and I agree totally.
The meat is the important bit and the bread is the obvious that turns it into a sandwich, anything else is something you expect to see growing out of the ground making ya garden look nice.
Keep it simple and ...

Re: sending a bass from the UK to the USA

yeah it is one of the best ricks I have ever seen... sadly I sold it about 4 months ago and really regret it now.
Back to the thread now... fed ex was good and the bass was shipped in its ric flight case taped up so it couldn't open in transit.
I would use fed ex again DEFINATELY.

Re: Did You Ever Have One Of Those Days?

Absolutely not John....Two pieces of bread and the ham. Otherwise you'll ruin it
Well said... to quote another famous rickenbacker player... you dont need anything on it but the bread and the meat, if you look at your teeth in the mirror we are carnivours, lets face it vegitarians fart and ...

Re: Real, or fake?

I agree totally, some of those copys are actually good basses and as long as they are sold as vintage copies there shold never be a problem.
I have owned a few over the years myself but to try and sell one as the real thing makes my blood boil.
He never e mailed me back tho so I assume he sold it ...

Re: Real, or fake?

It has now been removed off e bay the day after my first post on here.
It was a really nice looking copy but hopefully this now means someone else did'nt end up buying a fake by accident even if it is a good one.

Re: Real, or fake?

And it looks like here is another one, this one has a very cleverly worded ad an e bay but when I asked him to send a few more pics they were very poor quality.
See what you make of it but I think its a fake (although it is a nice one)
