Speaking of cool Bigsby mods, I like the one that Paul W. likes to do - namely, he removes the tab, or lug with the screw hole that is nearest the bridge, and then drills underneath the spring, thus hiding that forward screw and giving a cleaner footprint to the B5. 8)

Re: 4000 sighting
I watched a DVD of iconic Aussie rock songs last night.
The bass player in Australia's seminal punk band "The Saints" was clearly playing a 4000 in the clip for the late 70's single "(I'm)Stranded". The clip has lots of passing shots of the bass and several close-ups too. Great tone!
Cheers

Re: In a music store today...
I own a fretless Dargie Delight II Big Al bass (and a Rickenbacker 4003 amongst others). It's a pretty rare beast. Plays and sounds like nothing else - the ebony board sold me on it. Only the Dargie Delight II Big Als have the ebony board as standard.

Re: 1999
Sorry for the ignorance, but what **are** the differences between an made for the Japanese market RM1999 and a V63? (aside from the perspex tug bar)

Re: Should I(t) Stay or Should I(t) Go Now...?
Hi Andy,
This may be a silly idea - but has the magnet on the bridge pickup become partially degaussed? Given the strong reading for the coil, it is either this or something very strange happening with the harness....

Re: Should I(t) Stay or Should I(t) Go Now...?
Interesting, I just noticed a 1977 AutumnGlo 4001 for sale on TB. The seller in his disclosure lists the same affliction with the treble pickup:
The only bad news is that the bridge pickup most likely has a broken coil. It still works, but it sounds very thin, and puts out about 10%.

Re: Should I(t) Stay or Should I(t) Go Now...?
Andy, have you checked the pickup selector switch and output jack? I wouldn't get rid of that bass!
Hi Joey!
No, I haven't personally checked the p/up selector switch with a meter, but it seems to be noiseless and works without any obvious issues with the neck pickup. Same with the output jack ...

Re: Should I(t) Stay or Should I(t) Go Now...?
I have a very hard time believing both (or even either) bridge pickups are bad. I think there might be another wiring issue and you have two good pickups. Having a '93 S bass, I vote to keep and sort the problem. '91 basses have wonderful necks.

Should I(t) Stay or Should I(t) Go Now...?
Hey folks,
My annual conundrum post.
I have a 1991 Rickenbacker 4003S model in Jetglo. I bought it from a work colleague in early 2007 - I've had it almost 3 years now. He let me sample it for a week before I made a decision. Right away I knew there was an issue with the bridge pickup, but heck ...

I must be an odd one and certainly in the minority
I'm 43 and UK born, but came to Oz with my family in 1972 when I was 7. My first real knowledge of the Rickenbacker bass sound came courtesy of Mark Bedford (Bedders) of the English ska band Madness, and Bruce Foxton of the UK mod band The ...

Ron,
OMG the "Honeyglo"/"Pumpkinglo" bass is to die for!
What a beautiful finish... good thing I never saw that one when it was on the ‘bay… I would have sold my soul to get my hands on it…
Sincerely
Andy

Has there ever been an ORANGE Rickenbacker bass?
Just biding my time, looking for the right Rickenbacker to present itself (missed out on the 4004 Larado
)... and wondered if there had ever been an orange coloured Ric bass? Original or refinish....

4004 Larado...? A couple of quick questions
Hi folks,
I currently own a mojo'ed 1991 Rickenbacker 4003S and love it so much I have been contemplating buying a "Deluxe appointed" 4003 with binding and inlays. While researching possibilities, prices and availabilty I started developing an unexpected curiosity in the 4004 Larado.
