Re: Supposed 1958 325 Pickguard & Electronics on eBay

V93 was the 3rd 325 mentioned on the well circulated Oct '58 Radio Tel invoice to Framus Werke. It would have been these 3 that had the retrofit type conversion to 4 control. V93 was a blonde, and almost certainly had a soundhole. It's never surfaced to my knowledge

Re: Supposed 1958 325 Pickguard & Electronics on eBay

The original control plate from V82 would almost certainly resemble that of V81 with oddly placed controls, likely mismatched controls in the loom, and the toggle placed low on the guard like all two control 325's, combos, etc. As they were done side by side (also with V93 not V84) The loom in quest...

Re: Putting Glen's Loom in a non C58 RIC

Thanks for the kind words Peter. It's very true the the loom, whilst originally intended to compliment the 325c58, is just as effective in any 3 pickup model - full or small scale. It's also unobtrusive, and more intuitive to use than other methods, such as rewiring the mixer control as a middle pic...

Re: Difference RM 1996 and 325

It wouldn't be suprising that a '65 335S had export specs including plain knobs. It would likely have been picked out of a batch of export built guitars to fill a domestic order. It's always been said that Ric made guitars in batches, so it's unlikely a single 335S was made. '65 was certainly well i...

Re: Difference RM 1996 and 325

Basically, If it's not made in '64 it's not a 1996. They were apparently only made in that one year. If is is a '64 it's almost certainly a 1996, as 9 out of 10 made that year were 1996's. The case badge is a good indicator, although Lennon's DB122 had a badge on the case, and it's not a 1996 - so n...

Re: Is the 325 Body Smaller Than A 350?

As the original question was simply whether the 320/325 has the same body size as the 350/355, I'll just clarify that the answer is substantially yes. There are some minor profile and edge differences between versions of the short scale (which is not 3/4 btw), but substantially, the body's of the sh...

I believe the link is dead because it was being claimed that the guitar was authenticated by William. When in fact, it has not.

Re: two-tone brown '58 325 - eBay

Nice to have that V109 factory repair insight thanks John. Really looking forward to that book of yours :)

I wonder what it means to stabilise the bridge? Something to do with rattle in the saddles perhaps?

And thanks for linking those photo's Ron. Very timely indeed :)

Re: two-tone brown '58 325 - eBay

V109 is beautiful just as it is. The only thing non original is a 3/16" combo type nut that was mostly likely an early factory repair. I'm sure any sane person would leave this historic guitar as it is. Incidentally, the only thing it's lacking is a case. We know that period correct would be an...

Re: 325c58 Output and Wiring

It's only the wiring of the pots that makes them work in reverse. You can quite easily change it to the more familiar method by moving the capacitor connection to the free terminal on the pot

Re: two-tone brown '58 325 - eBay

I've known about this one for more than 10 yrs... I just didn't know who owned it, or where it ended up. Nice to finally see some pics of it.

I was shown a complete set of detailed photos of this guitar including the jackplate and the wiring loom just recently. It is real

Re: Hi Gain to Toaster Conversion

If the guitar is a 2000 model and the pickups have round head slotted corner screws they are 7.4K scatterwounds. The round moulding marks were added at the time of the C series, but the winding spec has remained the same. There weren't any 6K pickups made by the factory. So either your pickups have ...
