Re: New Acquisition: '63 4000

My eyes are burning from reading all 19 pages on that thread! btw...my cavity rout in the '64 says "4000-g" ????? Vincent says his romo's had 4001-s in them??? I still have the broken off headstock hanging above my workbench. Hey, Wints...any luck on this data base thingy for the romo's?

Re: New Acquisition: '63 4000

Notice my '64 is 3 numbers above the one in japan as dk-581! But how does one know if it was a Romo export? Is there an export list available? According to Smith's book, mine could be one of 2 4001-s fireglo, or could have been one of one 4000 with extra rout, or one of 101 1999 basses no color spec...

Re: New Acquisition: '63 4000

Only my mommy calls me ronald ! lol. Anyone here have a serial # block list of basses that became rose morris exports? Does this even exist. How would one know if they had a rose morris 1999 or a 4001-s? I had asked Gallo but received no response. I figured he would have an idea or maybe the aussie ...

Re: New Acquisition: '63 4000

The rear pickup is my fave but I learned how to use the neck pickup from Squire to be subtle. I learned how to use the rear pickup to its advantage from Geddy and John Wetton. I tend to punch the string down towards the pickup when I'm rockin' to get crunch and clank whether its with the fingers or ...

Re: New Acquisition: '63 4000

The tiger striped one was the previous bassist on the first lp. That bass lives in London Ontario with Jamie Ricket as he was a fan of the band and had us over for dinner with his family many times. I've put a bug in the ear of the '66 owner many times, still to no avail. Do not praise my '64 as it ...

Re: Mike Rutherford 4001S FG (RM1999)

It was on Dudepit i believe last year or so. There were pics at the farm or warehouse thingy showing all the gear that was in there. The double neck was awful looking with some pickguard with dome rivet pickups.

Re: Did Rickenbacker produce any 4001S models in the 1970s?

From what I've seen, They don't list a lot of things, but they were available mysteriously. I save thast page as it was interesting but I can't say it was legit as no serial # was given. But it is neck thru and has a dot fretboard to say the least.

Re: Mike Rutherford 4001S FG (RM1999)

I've had discussions with others on the Rutherford Rick doubleneck and the bass he currently has is different than the one used with Genesis. From the photos that were taken in the storage warehouse, it was a different animal in certain respects. The other thing I disagree with is that a '65 was use...

Re: New Acquisition: '63 4000

Nice bass, Dave! i got my '64 4001-s in Toronto as well as my ''68 and '70 4001 deluxes. I know of a '66 4001-s fireglo at Yonge and Eglington. My '64 was originally fireglo but some moron painted it '57 chevy blue... strings, chrome, and all! When i stripped it i went clear coat for a few years bef...

Re: Did Rickenbacker produce any 4001S models in the 1970s?

Yes...rickenbacker did make some 4001-s basses, and I have a pic of one from a guitar store catalogue page from NYC circa 1983. It's identified as a '72 Rick 4001,mono. natural finish very early model with no binding on neck or body. Mono output, dot inlays. In the pic, which is very small, the bass...

Re: First Vintage RIs: 1982's B-Series

STEVE AND BRIAN! I bought my '64 4001-s at Hudson's Music near Jane Street in Toronto back in '83. I traded a '77 Music Man Stingray I got off Ralph from Harlequin. I traded two SVT 8x10 cabs for the Stingray back in'82 when i played for a Halifax band "Titan". I still got the '64 rick...y...

1960 MODEL 4000 W/ DELUXE FEATURES ???

Greetings, all ! For my very first post on this wonderous site, ( Yes...I've been watching you all ! lol. ) I would like to pose this question to the membership . On page 102 of Richard Smith's Rickenbacker book , on the bottom right, there is a pic of a 1960 model 4000 with deluxe features. Where i...
