I wasn't very excited when I heard The Searchers were including Running Scared in their set, but at Salisbury last week it was stunning.

Anyone who has seen them in recent years knows how good they are at milking the applause, but at Salisbury the ovation went on so long they had to start the ...

Frank has repeatedly said on stage that they are going to go for the fifty years.
Of course that might be just stage talk, but providing their health is good, I can only imagine John being the only one to bring things to a halt - not that he has given any indication.

I suppose it is also ...

People are stupid enough not to know tribute bands are different.

We occasionally get emails on the official site from people who have booked to go and see a band with "Searchers" in the name and found that it's not The Searchers. The Searchers still occasionally get people complaining to them ...

I'm sure there was a lot of "cleaning up" taking place on the recordings. Reminds me of a member of the progressive band IQ who told me once that for a live album they released, they recorded the set, stripped out everything except the drums and the crowd noise and went into the studio to record the ...

I suppose it could be taken as quite flattering for so many other bands to want your name as part of theirs, although I don't think John Mac sees it that way.
I'm trying to think of another sixties act on the circuit that has the same problem. Having trouble at present.

Yes, original or in the line-up that made the first record - original recording line-up?

I understand what you are saying Roy, and I think most fans of sixties music would agree with you, but strictly speaking "original" means just that, irrespective of recordings, photo shoots or anything else.

In which case, wasn't Norman McGarry the original drummer of The Searchers?

Although this is a Mike Pender site, it does have a picture of his band with "The Searchers" above it, or it did last time I looked. The Searchers are aware of it.

This is the one I have Rob, and I also have a S.African pressing of it which is on Parlophone. I was interested by this copy because it had the Parlophone "£" symbol on the front cover, and the record label is the old black/gold Parlophone design but printed in black and silver.
