Re: Tail lift on a 4001C64 re-issue
Paul McCartney stopped playing his Rick around '85, and I'm wondering if it's because the tailpiece is bent way up and not playable anymore? The last time I saw Paul's 4001 is on the cover of "All the Best" released in 87. I can't remember my source for this but I do recall that Paul had ...

Re: Truss rod adjustment and tuning
As an aside, Joey's 1/8 turn per day rule may seem conservative, but 1/8 turn can result in a significant change in relief. It also takes time for the adjustment to settle in, and a little recklessness with the rods can easily result in overshoot and, in extreme cases, truss rod or even neck damage.

How about some tunes by The Jam - In the City, Going Underground, Start!, Pretty Green....
Paul Weller got some aggressive tones out of those 330s.... Bruce Foxton used a 4001 and a pick pre Sound Effects.

Good to hear. If it's perfectly playable, it's perfect!nmiller wrote:I have 11s on it now. I'm going to leave the neck as it is; it's perfectly playable now.

Re: Capri truss rod question
Correcting a chronic back bow (however small) when you have no truss rod adjustment left can be done the hard way or the easy way. The hard way involves heat treatment and expense. The easy way is to move to higher tensions strings. I went the easy way on an old Fender Jaguar and it works fine, as l...

Thank you Ben.
I noticed that the same optical illusion is evident in the first pic of the metallic plumglo 4003 found on this thread, but not in the other pics. In this age of digital enhancement, it's easy to forget that "picture-perfect" often isn't!

Iriane, ever think that maybe you're on the wrong forum? Do you even HAVE a Rickenbacker? Good point Dane. Someone needs to crawl back under their bridge and shut up. Hmmm - the pickup in the OP pictures certainly looks crooked to me. +1.... and I have definitely had a Rickenbacker or two in my time.

Re: How to remove 'Reissue' Horseshoe pickup cover
Didn't Sir Paul's bass have an issue with horseshoe magnets that could not be recharged? One reason why RIC didn't go with magnetised shoes for the RIHS.
