Re: Making a Danelectro sound like a Ric
The bridge/bridge plate idea is interesting... something to think about. Lennon's Ric had Bigsby bridge, I think... but, still, I think there is something to the bridge idea. I'm sure that the true Ric sound is the sum of its parts. But I have this great pickup and I want to put it to good use ...

Re: Making a Danelectro sound like a Ric
Thanks for the input... I'm thinking of a new course: I have a line on one of those cheap Gretsch Electromatic hollowbodies. Maybe put the Ric PU in the bridge of that? Being a hollow body, might thatt one might sound a little more Ric-like?

Right! This is the stuff I'm looking for-- what are the right pot values in this context?jingle_jangle wrote: but there are lots of other factors to consider, too...like scale length, strings, and pot values.

Making a Danelectro sound like a Ric
Hello:
I recently found an late 80's Rickenbacker Hi Gain bridge pickup and I'm going to put it into one of those new Danelectro "Dead On '67" solid bodies. I know it won't sound exactly like a 660, but what other changes should I make to the electronics/wiring to make it sound as Rickenbacker-like ...

Re: What neck PU for project with Ric PU in bridge?
Thanks guys... I should probably post something in that other section.
The guitar that I'm putting it in is one of those new Danelectro solid body "Dead On '67" Hornets. So, I guess the larger question is will this guitar have a Ric tone with the Ric pu in the bridge-- period!

Re: What neck PU for project with Ric PU in bridge?
Thanks Ken. I posted this question on another board and they concur... though there was one vote for a Gibson humbucker!

What neck PU for project with Ric PU in bridge?
I have an electric guitar project that I'm working on-- it is a Fender-esque solid body and it will have a late 80's hi-gain in the bridge.
I'm really undecided on what to use as the neck pickup; I'm not looking to put a Ric PU there. I'm leaning toward a Tele or Strat neck pickup, but a humbucker ...
