Re: Animals "it's My Life"

Speaking of.....

Thanks for that...another of the Brill building songs. I want to do all of them.

I'd have in my life done by now except I'm in a race to finish tiling a kitchen before it gets too cold...almost done!

Like the beatles stuff, I hope folks here will help out with some good vocals ...

Re: Animals "it's My Life"

That, and, "We've Gotta Get Out of This Place": two all-time favorites, followed closely by "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood". All three in constant rotation on my Pandora set list. I'm also looking at that wunnerful VOX Continental sound--very nice and obvious on "Understood"...

Hi Paul!

I didn't ...

Re: Animals "it's My Life"

Yeah, eggman kinda lost it there for a bit. That crazy Hullabaloo thing with the girl trophies was live vocal, taped instruments. So It's no help to watch the playing. They were just thrashing about for the camera. But again the singing was live.

I expect no problems with the 12 string part. A ...

Re: Animals "it's My Life"

We do this one

Cool, Ronn.

Although Chandler's bass lines were never technically difficult...it's still hard to get that exact punchy pick sound. Some I think have double tracked bass. Not sure on this one though...think not.

Although I design gear, I have a pretty good studio set up. For ...

Animals "it's My Life"

I'm wanting to do an accurate cover of "It's my Life " and the other Brill building /Rick 12 animals hits.
Mostly for fun, but also to test a new mic preamp design I did.

Kind of like we did with the stuff on the beatles forum a while back, with several forum members supplying tracks.

So...anyone ...

Re: Beatles Remastered Box Set U.S. Prices

I'll be wanting to know how you guys think this set sounds.

I also wish they had be remixed rather than remastered. What I have always wanted to get my hands on is the
original multitrack masters!

From what I have read the stereo release was mucked with ala "loudness wars" to "compete with modern ...

Re: A Backing Track I Did for Fun

No, it isn't. It's Paul & George doing a duet on their Casinos.
Yeah jim you're right. I checked on it. At least on the album version. The other version with the rick12
(heard on analogy) is the one that sounds kinda slidy. I like that version a lot, even though it wasn't used.

Re: A Backing Track I Did for Fun

Wow, Country gentleman and AC-30! Some good sounds for sure.
Looking forward to hearing "And your bird can sing". I just listened
to the anthology take in the car a couple days ago...you know the one
where they start laughing during the overdub.

Slide guitar used in that I think?

Re: A Backing Track I Did for Fun

Hi Karl.

I like to do beatles tracks too. Mostly rick 12 string ones.
I bought a Mapex mars drum kit for session players to use in my studio, but
I am trying to learn drums myself in spare time. I practice about an hour a day.
I'll do "day tripper" as soon as I can do the fills! Before I used a ...

Re: The Beatles in Mono. Part II – Rubber Soul

Right Francesco.... I didn't notice the swoosh and missing notes on the mono. BTW that is my next song....
hope you will sing it!

I'm getting the extreme urge to play with the four multitrack masters from pepper too.

Re: The Beatles in Mono. Part II – Rubber Soul

I don't recall ever hearing the whole album in mono before. Neat.

Of couse I prefer the stereo mixes, just because I'm a big fan of early/mid 60s "ping pong" wide stereo.

One thing I'm curious about though. To me Rubber Soul was the first album that had consistently high
sound quality throughout ...

Re: "Every Little Thing" questions

I think it was a special song too. And it was just a "filler" track!
Now that we have real drums and can do good rolls and fills the next one I
think will be "Day Tripper"! Thinking about how to get the sound of what I think
was John's middle eight on the amped up gibson j-160E. Tambourine
is armed ...

Re: "Every Little Thing" questions

Thanks for that information Ethan.

I ordered Emerick's book from amazon but it never came. Got to get on to them about that.

I certainly hear the mic bleed from no headphone overdubbing on many early tracks.

Also I think I have an idea about the drumming on ELT now that I have a drum kit. I think ...

Re: "Every Little Thing" questions

Well, I bought my own drum kit friday! It's an old Mapex Mars set. The Meinl cymbals it has are nice. It will be a long time before I can play on tracks though.

I'm starting with some drum lessons on youtube. I have to to decide whether I can play a right handed setup. As a lefty
I'm finding my ...
