Anybody try one of these?

Found this browsing yesterday. It seems like it would be used more for stage playing than "bedroom gigs". But an interesting concept. I like the idea of being able to experiment with making changes to my guitar. Any feedback from users? http://cgi.ebay.com/PICKUP-SELECTOR-PEDAL-4-RICKENBACKER-GUITAR ...

Just checked the high gain pick up I'm considering selling when I replace it with a new toaster. I'm getting a reading of around 16 ohms! Seems awfully high. I've checked that the volume knob setting was full and the other toaster (replaced the other original high gain, last year) and it reads 7.8 ...

Thanks, I'll get my order for one in. I tried the high-gain/toaster combination (high-gain at the neck/toaster at the bridge) and it seemed to work for a while until I picked up a ToneLab and Euro-tubed and "Webered" my amp. Now, I've changed my mind, the high-gain is too dark and muddy (maybe ...

Discount toasters?

While browsing through a Google search yesterday, I found several places that sell RIC toaster pickups for about 2/3 of what the going price is. I'm wondering if anybody has purchased one of these? Are they B-stock or what? I like supporting North Coast, Rhoads, etc., as much as anybody. But if ...

It's one of Don Adamek's. I had it powdercoated. Same with the toaster cover. Thanks.

Just got my first digital camera and thought I'd share the first picture it took. I saw this guitar on eBay several years ago and lost out on the bidding in the last seconds. I looked for another like it for a year and finally contacted the winner in desperation. A deal was struck and I sold three ...

Gary, of course I was talking used. Right now, there are at least 5 classic 30's on eBay under $250. I own 2 "stacks" (amp and extension speaker) and I'm into both for under $850. Both amps have covers, foot pedals, tube guards and tube tamers. Shipping will raise the cost a little, but a watchful ...

If you can't afford one of the Fenders, look at the Peavey Classic 30. Match it with a closed backed 112E extension speaker and you can come close to the tweed Fender sound without spending an arm and a leg and all the worries of gigging it. The amps run around $250 and the extensions go for $150 or ...

Interesting idea. I have a 360-12 with a toaster at the bridge and the high gain intact at the neck. I'd love to get the toaster look on the high gain, though, as it would complete the v64 look I've slowly worked towards. Are the toaster covers available separately? If so, who carries them? Thanks

I did this same thing with my 360-12. While in for a 12 string "make-over by Mark Arnquist, I purchased a toaster and had the cover powdercoated black (to match the other hardware). Mark installed it at the bridge position, while I waited, on the day I picked it up. My original intention was to ...

Mark did my 360-12 about 18 months ago and I second Terrano's sentiments. I had basically the same mods (without the tone pot cap) but also had the challenge of replacing my cracked "R" tailpiece (in non-replaceable black). We replaced it with a powdercoated trapeze tailpiece (love the look ...

For those of you that can't afford any of the blonde tube Fenders, you might consider Peavey's Classic 30. Looks like the Fenders at half of the price. Leaves a little money to play with tubes. Plenty of volume and tube "warmth" and if you gig, they're built like tanks. Even the Classic 20 will push ...

Yes. I went to a powder coater that I've used for race car parts and special finishes in several high end homes. He uses Cardinal paints, they're one of the two big suppliers in the USA. You shouldn't have any trouble finding a local painter that uses that brand.
There are almost two dozen blacks ...

Black Hardware

Just got done going through the ordeal of not only replacing the "R" tailpiece on my 360-12, but dealing with black hardware, too. I got a lot of help from some familiar names and ended up replacing the "R" with a trapeze tailpiece and having all of the parts involved painted black (just pulling ...
