Re: thinking of buying a new amp, input welcome!

I´m looking for an English made all tube head that you can use for either guitar or bass(nastier distortion :D ). I´m thinking either a Marshall super bass or one of those new Orange thunderverbs 50 or 200 watts, I´m thinking 50. Has any one had experience with any of these amps and like to chip in ...

Wow Really?
So if the OP wanted to get a replacement raised lettered TRC from Ric he'd probably be OK?

Re: Classic Toasters in stock at RIC

I installed one in my '74 and it made me realize how darn good the original high gain is.

Re: My new toaster pickup seems wrong.

No, it does what it is supposed to. Are you sure everything is wired up correctly?

Well yeah I think (thought) so, but thats kind of the reason for this thread.
It's wired exactly the same way as the High gain was - and now is.
If I was doing something wrong then I'll try it out again someday ...

Re: My new toaster pickup seems wrong.

Do you guys find the tone knob to cut the volume on your (bass) toaster?

What would you do??

I recently removed a RI toaster from my 4001 bass and reinstalled the original '74 high gain (much better). Which means I need to find a good use for this spare toaster. I've also got an Ibanez Artcore 75 which I noodle around and demo on.

Re: My new toaster pickup seems wrong.

OK it's official.
I'm coming out of the closet to declare...I much prefer the '74 high-gain to the toaster.
As uber cool as the toaster is- I swapped them back and..... oh how sweet it is.

Re: Post of picture of you PLAYING your ric

Hey Folks, here's a link to the new Vandas video, for our new single out this week. Features my V63, and Bassman 100 in a few shots, and was the bass and amp used on the recording. For all the Melbourneites(?), our album launch is on the 13th Sept at the East Brunswick Club...

Re: My new toaster pickup seems wrong.

Thanks gents.
Yes I have considered switching it back. I'd probably hang on to the toaster to switch back in at a later date.

Re: My new toaster pickup seems wrong.

Thanks John.
What about the tone knob effecting the volume like that- is that common/normal?
It never happened with the 74 high gain- or any other bass PU I've owned.

Its inspired me to put my electronics tinkering into gear to build a stereo preamp- Ricosound on steroids.

My new toaster pickup seems wrong.

Dear Forum,
I recently installed a RI toaster in my '74 4001 and I'm not sure its working correctly- its not as hot as the previous high gain PU (as you'd expect) but the tone knob cuts a LOT of volume. ie: tone turned to treble gives a decent level- tone turned right down is extremely muted. This ...

Re: Best Amp for Ric bass?

I have An Ampeg B100R that my Ric sounds great through. I play Classic rock- Heavy Metal through it and it holds its ground.

I was a diehard Fender Bassman user prior to geting the Ampeg
How do you find it?
Is it loud enough?

Another vote for the Ampeg B15 here. God's tone- but not very loud.
I ...
