I have tried the RB40 gauge set on my 2011 4003.

They seem to be bright, just not as 'clangy' as the stainless steel sets.

I had a brief conversation with the luthier yesterday. He has filmed the repair and says he will post it on YouTube for all to see after it is completed.

It's a 2011 4003 and it definitely does not come out of the headstock end. That's where the problem lies. The hole for the truss rod is barely wide enough for the end of the rod.
