Re: Post of picture of you PLAYING your ric

3000 gets an outing. I had this in store for a couple of years and more or less forgot it - turns out to be absolutely magic.

Dallas/Austin recommendations

Going to be in Dallas & Austin over the next couple of weeks - anyone got recommendations for good vintage guitar shops, esp. for ricks? And any recommendations for gigs/venues to catch?

1972 "RM 1999"

Nice bass, but as a skunked '72 does it qualify as a "99"?

Re: 3000/3001 Models

I'm fortunate enough to have both. A mud-brown walnut 3001 which despite its horrid colour is a really great guitar and is one on my main players. It can be glimpsed/heard here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btj18ls4kJw The 3000 is a nice MG bought from a forum member. Happy with the scale length bu...

Re: Who can I trust in the UK with the truss rods on a 4002?

And, after some delay, here she is. Truss rods successfully tweaked and the neck is arrow straight with an action like a razor blade. Strung with Thomastik Jazz rounds. The Stars Guitars bridge/thu body stringing stayed although we tried a stock Ric bridge - it's as if the bass was built with that i...

Re: J Dog's Golden Rules of Gigging

We've had various "incidents" over the years but one I particularly recall was in my early days with the band at a pub called, charmingly, The Axe and Cleaver. I was bitten hard on the arm by a (worryingly, male) member of the audience. Fortunately for me however, I was armed with an Ibane...

Re: Model of the Week Eleven: The 2030/2050

Just acquired a JG 2030. Gave it a spanking straight out of the box last night and even my wife (who isn't known for her interest in such things) said the tone was awesome. Can't believe this was an economy model. It sure isn't the prettiest but it's still hot.

Re: So who cranked the amps to 11?

Hmmm, dull rumbling noise, seeming to come from the centre of the earth, windows rattling along the Eastern seaboard - I think it was probably someone playing a Gibson EB2. We get tremors even here in the UK. I've been woken up by 2 of them in the last 15 years. Somehow, though, the "Melton Mow...
