Re: Rickenbacker bass with effects
How about envelope filters? What are y'all using? For a long time I've had the Moogerfooger MF-101 Low Pass Filter - in fact, mine is from when it was still Big Briar, before Bob Moog got the rights back to the Moog name. I love it, but don't use the envelope much. And lately, I've been more into co...

Re: short scale to long
Cool - would be neat to see a picture of them together! I like to play basses of different scale lengths. Maybe because I started on guitar, switching between instruments was never really a problem for me. Recently, I thought maybe I was getting too used to my other basses, but when I picked up my 4...

Re: 4001 recording
I posted this in the bass section but figured I'd add it in here for posterity:
Filter Valley
100% improvised, recorded at a recent rehearsal, the Autumnglo 4001 through a 3Leaf GR2 envelope filter & Fulltone Bass Drive distortion, played with an Adamas graphite pick.

Re: Rickenbacker bass with effects
What a coincidence - the rhythm guitarist on the track I posted had one of those for his overdrive! First time I saw one in person.

Re: Rickenbacker bass with effects
I was just at Premiere Bass in Superior, CO a few weekends ago and played their MID 4003 through a Way Huge Pork Loin/Swollen Pickle combo... man that sounded sweet! I was ABing it with a Lull P4 and those effects brought great things out of both basses. I'm pretty sure I'll be acquiring a Pork Loi...

Re: Rickenbacker bass with effects
I've thought about doing Ric-O-Sound, but the previous owner plugged up that jack with a big ol' bolt!

Re: short scale to long
Nice! Were you playing a short scale before? I've got some short scales that I love, but I will always hold on to my 4001!

Rickenbacker bass with effects
I was away from this forum for a while, but I'm back! I've started playing with a band again, for the first time in 9 years or so. We've had three rehearsals so far, and for the last one I took my '76 Autumnglo 4001 . Wow - that is my favorite sound! The rehearsal was recorded, and I also recorded j...

Re: Bay Area (BARF, BARC ) again one of these days ?
I'd be inclined to prefer the April dates, as it would be after Daylight Savings Time. The 14th or the 21st, anyone? :?: Sounds good to me, Kira. I would have a new addition to share since the last BARC,and i never did get around to having Paul take a look at my 4000 last time. Those suggested Apri...

Re: Stanley Clarke Playing A 4000!!!
Personally, not big on his tone here. His Rick sounds quite "un-Rickish" and frankly quite a bit too muddy for my liking. None of that lovely cutting quality Ricks are great for. Hate to say it, but he sounds better with the Alembic. Really cool footage though. I have to disagree - I'm pr...

Re: Stanley Clarke Playing A 4000!!!
Love this footage - I always wondered if this was the instrument on Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy. Actually, this is the first time I've seen the "After the Cosmic Rain" video - would love to get my hands on a DVD of the whole performance!

Re: Updates
It's much cooler for a bass to get damaged like that than to just be smacking into things at home...
