Re: SERF Pics
I had a great time, although I was only able to stay Saturday, then had to get back to ClearH2O. But it was really nice to meet everyone. True, there were an overwhelming number of basses on hand (personally love the white '64, but that's typical of me). However, JDog's '58 Combo 400 more than made ...

Re: ***SERF UPDATE***** PLEASE READ! 1/31
BArring unforeseen circumstances I should be there & bring my '61 AC30 and '67 Plexi, so there'll be a few fun amps to play with.

Re: Official SERF head count
Jason,
I'm looking fwd to it. And let's face it, Rickenbackers are "happy guitars", and so this gang just seems to follow suit.

Re: Official SERF head count
Jason,
Thanks for the heads up on this. I'm going to say yes for Sat. and if there's any change I'll let you know. I posted a question about instruments to bring under the instrument registration thread.
Thx!
Nick

Re: SERF instrument register
Jason,
So far it looks like I can do this. I'll probably drive over from Clearwater on Saturday. Would you like me to bring my 350/12 and '61 AC30? I also have a super clean and all original '67 50w Plexi I'd be willing to haul over. I don't know if non-Ricks are of interest but I have a cool ...

Re: Strats and a Ric 350/12
Mark,
I played a couple Strats, so there's a bit of underlying layering. I used a '60 and a '62 through a '67 Plexi for the rhythm picking parts. And then I used the '62 Strat through the AC30 cranked to do those power chords from the solo onwards. I really thought that sound had some really nice ...

Re: Strats and a Ric 350/12
Guys,
Thank you so much for the kind words. Encouraging. I hadn't recorded in years, and friends have been on me to start laying songs to tape - eh, hard drive I mean.

Strats and a Ric 350/12
This is a Gospel song built around Strats and a B3. I wanted to lay in a piano on the choruses to push them along a bit. But I had just gotten a 350/12v63 and decided to use it instead and kinda use it to just accent the fundamental chord movements through the choruses, and then hit the 12 a bit ...

I have a new 350v63 w/ 21 frets. Is there any tonal difference between mine and the 24 fret?

Re: The best tube combo amp for a Ric?
Jake,
After reading your posts here I would seriously encourage you to take your Ric to wherever you can find one of the new VOX Heritage hand-wired AC15s. They come as a head or in a combo config. w/ a 112 Blue Alnico. This is a LOUD 15w amp and great for gigging in small to moderate size venues ...

Re: ToneFest in Clearwater, FL on Saturday
Yeah, but nobody brought any air cables.
To be honest, I still don't get the tube thing. Just too distorted for me. I love the clean solid state amps, especially for Ricks. The JC-120 is king of that. And I just love the Princeton Chorus amps too. But the tubes sound great with Fenders and ...

Forget all the Plexis, VOXes, Fenders, Boo-teeks, etc. The zenith of all amps was at TONEfest this year....

Re: ToneFest in Clearwater, FL on Saturday
Let me tell you guys, Jason represented the RRF, Rickenbacker Guitars and himself, in a most excellent manner. I was very pleased to have him at TF'08, and I'm looking fwd to his continuing involvement. I have to tell you one story from today's gathering. After quite some time, demo'ing amps using ...
