Re: Putting a toaster pickup in....a telecaster
Any 8k single coil? If I'm being truthful part of the reason is for the aesthetic and uniqueness factor.

Putting a toaster pickup in....a telecaster
Hey guys, I know this might sound like sacrilege, but I'd like to try putting a toaster pickup inside the neck position of my telecaster. I've got one that's no good, so could use that as a bass and send it to somebody to have it rewound or could have somebody start from scratch and just use the cov...

Re: How many ohm toasters for jazz?
Hey John, I believe that it varied since they were all hand wound during that era? For example, I'm lead to believe that John Lennon's Rick was only somewhere around 4 ohms. Thanks for the tip though. I suppose I'll just have to try a few different windings and see which is best, even if it is a bit...

Re: How many ohm toasters for jazz?
Haha jeffrey, I can't say that I enjoy that band one bit. Paul, that's a fair point. My biggest dilemma is that I'm in the middle of restoring an old Capri that I'd like to use primarily for jazz work, but I'd like to retain that vintage sound at the same time. Guess I can't have it all, though. It'...

Re: How many ohm toasters for jazz?
Sorry, mine are around 6 ohms, I was thinking of winding them up.
It's interesting that you guys say that considering that there were plenty of Rick jazz players back in the 50s and I believe they used pickups somewhere in the park of 6-7.5k ohms correct?

How many ohm toasters for jazz?
If one wanted to use a Rick with toaster pickups primarily for jazz, how many ohms would you recommend the toasters be? Not sure if anyone has input on this, but anything would be appreciated. I'm thinking around 7-7.5ohms, but can't say for sure.

Paul where might I get a custom Capri pickguard?
I'm currently restoring a capri and I really like what you did with one of yours. I don't have any pictures, but it was a dark, almost wine burst, with a gold TRC and top pick guard with a lower pick guard that was tortoise shell with a black and white binding around it. I'm interested in having a l...

Shipping a guitar
Does bubblewrap react with Rickebacker guitar finishes? I've got to ship out a 620 tomorrow; I was going to bad it with bubble wrap and wrap the headstock / neck in newspaper. Then I'll put the form fitting case in a box surrounded by peanuts. What do you guys think?

Re: Toaster Coil Tap?
Hmm..I tried one wiring method and it didn't work quite like I thought it would. I've got to think of a better way to wire it, I'll consider what you said. Problem is, My capri only has four knobs. I'm not opposed to adding a 5th volume knob, but I want it to be aesthetically pleasing and no knobs m...

Re: Toaster Coil Tap?
Really, that simple? Well now I feel like a bit of a numb nuts  I'm rewinding a Capri pickup. I think what I'm going to try and do is wind my bridge pickup and try and use push pull pots on all four knobs for the alternate combinations. Anybody have any other suggestions? That's really the bes...
