Re: Ric 4001 fretboard separating from neck

I think I can get by with it for now, until the end of this project. Personally, in the long term, I would like to have the bass repaired and restored with new frets and new Ric hardware. However, I don't know anyone who could and would do that for me. I would be willing to ship it, if anyone has an...

Re: Ric 4001 fretboard separating from neck

He said, if he tried to close the opening with a clamp and glue, it wouldn't hold. The wood has already assumed this position, he said, and there is no going back. In his opinion, I shouldn't invest any money in it, and that, for him, it's a wall hanger. He did adjust the set-up, and it does play cl...

Re: Ric 4001 fretboard separating from neck

Today, I am bringing it to a luthier who builds basses. He said he needed to look at it before determining whether the fretboard needed to be removed, cleaned, and re-fastened. Fingers crossed ...

Ric 4001 fretboard separating from neck

Hey All, Almost 20 years ago, my bandmate gave me this early 80s Ric 4001 bass. It has been a fantastic bass, and I love it dearly. Much to my horror, when I took it out to record the other day, I noticed the fretboard is separating from the neck, to the point where I can slide a guitar pick nearly ...

Re: TI 12’ers Alert

I guess the question is, is it dangerous for the guitar to put on the TIs without adjusting the truss rod, or is it more a matter of playability ?

Re: TI 12’ers Alert

Question : If I switch from RIC strings to these, do I need to tweak the truss rod or are they a drop-in replacement ? Thanks all.

Re: 300 series return to 21 frets

and let’s also be mindful of the fact that there are iconic Ric players that famously played the chunkier 24 fretters…Buck, Marr etc. Here, here. Peter Buck is absolutely what drew me to Ric's, and he has used them, famously, longer than anyone, I think. The hi-gain pickup sound has always been &qu...

Re: 300 series return to 21 frets

Everyone seems to focus on the aesthetics of the new 21-fret models. Personally, I see no improvement, per se, of 21 frets. If anything, with 53 years of history behind the 24-fret versions, and me looking at my own 24-fret Ric's for the past 19 years, the new versions look a bit odd to me. That bei...

Re: NGD! Vintage 360/12 Fireglo (A Paul W restoration)

Wow, all toasters. I actually prefer the Ric 12-string with hi-gains, most of the time. But it depends on the application. Beautiful stable !

Mine is a 2018. Am I entitled to these new tuners and do I have to request them ?

That's a stunner. Why do I find it funny that, with all that restoration work, it doesn't have vintage black knobs lol ?

Re: Mastery Bridge: Does It Make A Difference?

At first try, I was not able to attach my RIC bridge cover onto the Mastery base plate. But someone (here?) mentioned that it was possible with some fiddling. Without any cover in place, I tried my RIC screws to see if they would properly fit into the Mastery base screw holes, and they did. Next I ...

Re: Mastery Bridge: Does It Make A Difference?

I received my Mastery Bridge cover today. I knew it wasn't chromed, but man, it is DULL (brushed SS) and does not really harmonize with any other metal part on the guitar. I put a RIC cover on with the RIC screws -- a little tricky/tight getting the second screw in (leave the first one a little loo...
