I keep calling and calling…no answer.
714 545 5574. No answer.

It Happened Again

Four years ago the R tailpiece on my 1992 360/12 exploded. Went through the hoops with Rickenbacker to obtain another. Well, that one exploded after just four years. I do not use anything but Rickenbacker strings on my guitar. In fact they are the lighter gauge with the .42 on the low E, yet my tail...

Re: What brand of Naphtha do you use

Why would you want to remove a serial number sticker? I wanted to "Lennon-ize" my Epiphone Casino. In other words, turning a modern Casino into one that looks like John's from the '60s. That involves a few things and one of them being the removal of the orange serial number sticker and re...

Re: What brand of Naphtha do you use

Every guitar tech on earth uses this stuff for general cleaning, because it flashes and evaporates almost instantly. If Ronsonol is a mix of something else, you wouldn’t know it by using it, it reacts and behaves exactly like naphtha. Yeah, I don't understand the original poster's obstinance. Who c...

Re: What brand of Naphtha do you use

Ronsonol Lighter Fluid, which is exactly the same stuff. Yeah, that's the stuff to use. I have used it on a number of guitars and necks. Years later...no signs that I used the wrong stuff. It's safe to use and it does the job. Heck, it even says "Excelente para guitar" on the label. https...

Re: My R Tailpiece Broke

...but I certainly don't expect any tailpiece to break. I agree, but they clearly do. OK, these Ric tailpieces eventually do give up the ghost and explode. I can accept that. I can even accept the 110 bucks for a new one (being that I am only buying one every twenty years, that 110 bucks is not exp...

Re: My R Tailpiece Broke

Rickenbacker sees that R tailpiece as though they were guitar strings or tires on a car. An accepted aspect of owning a guitar or a car is eventually you have to get new strings or new tires...or a new R tailpiece. Why should those replacements be freebies? If your selector switch on a 20 year old g...

Re: My R Tailpiece Broke

I thought it would never happen to me, but it did; the R tailpiece on my 330-12 snapped off. I just noticed it. I'll call Rickenbacker tomorrow. How do they handle this? 1. "Sooner or later, it happens to everyone. To everyone." 2. Have to send the broken one to Rickenbacker, and then you...

I actually thought of that. Just leave it. But it was stuck in the neck position. I didn't spend two grand for jangle just to get mush.

Re: Pickup Selector Switch Problems

Problems, problems, problems. Nothing but problems. I decided not to do the major surgery on the guitar, and simply used an eye dropper with some electronic switch/contact cleaner. A few drops onto the switch, flipped the switch back and forth a few times, and it worked its way down to the contact p...

Re: Got my first Rick

I'm waiting for your confirmation of getting that second Rickenbacker .... then its downhill from there ! You know we all joke around about that -- once you buy one Ric, a second and a third are not far behind -- but I wonder if stats/numbers really prove that to be true. Is Rickenbacker the brand ...

Re: Got my first Rick

I am totally shocked, as a former fender/gibson guy, i wanted to own a Rick for years, I have some bad news for you...you need another guitar. You have: Fender - check Gibson - check Rickenbacker - check You need a Gretsch. Fender, Gibson, Rickenbacker, and Gretsch. Those four brands really provide...

Re: Got my first Rick

You've made a great decision. Looks nice.

Now get a capo on that guitar. Just place the capo anywhere and start playing. Then move the capo and start playing again. It's odd, but a capo on a Rickenbacker really unlocks some wonderful tones. Can't explain why, but it just does.

Re: loosening strap button

The toothpick fix works. I would just add a drop of carpenter's glue onto the toothpicks before slipping them into the whole. Also, while the strap button is out, put a felt washer on the bottom of the strap button and then screw it on. I have no idea why Ric doesn't use those felt washers. My 360/1...
