Re: Hand Rest/Guard for 70s 4001 Question

So from what I am understanding..... Ric did make a plastic bridge cover that was coated in some sort of chrome looking material and it very well could of been what came with my 1978 4001? But the "Bridge" cover on a CS or a 64s is actually part of the sound function and not just a "cool" looking ...

Hand Rest/Guard for 70s 4001 Question

Hello All,
It's one cold day here in Illinois. I hope everyone is doing well this Holiday season!

Did Rickenbacker ever make plastic hand guards for the 4001? I have a Jan 1978 Ric 4001 and it has a plastic pickup hand guard. Of course I was told this was all original etc.....

Thanks everyone for ...

Re: Long Lost RIC

Thanks so much All!!!

It was traded in error. Our band was going on the road and I was working on a trade for a 4001 '63 reissue. Being extremely Lazy, One of my friends said he would go pick up the new bass for me. What I didn't know was that my "long Lost Ric" was swapped for my other bass I was ...

Long Lost RIC

Hello All,

I have been on a mission for several years to locate my original 4001. Today I finally found the serial number of the missing bass! It's NK 6849. This 4001 has been missing since 1991 or early 1992 in the Dekalb Illinois area. This bass is most likely an AutumGlo but almost has the color ...

Re: Commemoration - Your Guitar's Manufacture Anniversary

Jay, that is significantly less than they were going for before the recent stock market, uh, realignment. $3k is not bad for one. I would try and talk them down for the no cert and signature guard, those are subtractions. Then it would be in line with condition and economic times. The guard more ...

Re: Commemoration - Your Guitar's Manufacture Anniversary

Hello,

In early 1992 I received a call from my local guitar store that they just received the new Chris Squire 4001. That evening went to the shop, played the bass and agreed to buy the bass. The next day after going to the bank for the loan ( I think about $1100 or right under that) and giving ...
