Re: New bass... new amp
Your rig looks great! I bet it sounds equally nice. You've obviously got a nice headphone/practice setup that is independent of your amp, and I can appreciate that. Perhaps that is the best of all worlds... focus on best sounding playing/performing rig, and also a separate practice/headphone rig. I ...

Re: New bass... new amp
Thanks for all the tips! I am very intrigued by the Aguilar TH350 and it's available at very reasonable cost. I have to admit that the Ampeg PF350 seems very cool for about 200 bucks less, plus it has a headphone output and an input for practicing along with iPhone or other device. I've read some ...

Re: New bass... new amp
Very cool! Have you had any experience with the B210 or SB112? That TB153 looks pretty dang nice!

Re: New bass... new amp
I also am impressed that they're made in the US, but yet the TH350 is sill a reasonable price point. That helps! The company looks pretty small and I perceive that there is good customer service, should the need arise. I like dependable gear, but if there's ever a problem, I'd like to have a company ...

Re: New bass... new amp
So, I am a little perplexed about what the 'Drive' knob does on the Tone Hammer 350 (or 500). Is it a distortion effect, or what? Does the amp go from hi-fi sounding (with 'Drive' off) to Ampeg-sort-of-grind (with 'Drive' all the way up)? I have no known local place to try it, so I am leaning on ...

Re: New bass... new amp
Of those two, I think the TH350 would certainly meet my needs. It looks about as plain and simple as can be. Any consensus on Avatar cabinets? I am particularly interested in their 1x12 or 2x10 cabs. An Aguilar cab plus the TH350 would be beyond my budget. I am, after all, also buying a brand new ...

New bass... new amp
Hello.
I departed for the gu***r world for a while, but I've come to my senses and switching back to bass. Please forgive me! I plan to buy a new 4003 with the gu***r funds, but I have no amp. I plan to play at home and with friends in small jams at first, with hope of relatively small/medium gigs ...

Re: 330 and 620... which one to toast?
I installed toasters in my 330 tonight. Wow, what a simple job that was! Start to finish was <30 minutes, and I went very slowly. The toasters sound GREAT in my 330! Now my two Rics (620 w/high gains and 330 w/toasters) sound VERY different from each other and I have an even more diverse pallete of ...

Why would this make a difference?ken_j wrote:I would consider putting the toasters in the 620 due to it having 21 frets.

330 and 620... which one to toast?
I've got a 620 and a 330, both with high gain pickups. I ordered a pair of new toasters through the Ric Boutique and they arrived today. My question is... which guitar should I try them in? I was thinking the 330, but now I'm not so sure. Hmm... Any preference?
Also, I've never changed pickups in a ...

Re: VOX AC15CC or AC15H1TV?
I have been doing some research and stumbled across the Genz Benz Black Pearl 30. Now, this amp looks interesting as an AC15/AC30 alternative. It's got 4xEL84 power tubes and 12AX7's in the preamp and phase inverter, plus a 5AR4 rectifier. It can switch to running only 2xEL84 for half power (15 ...

Re: VOX AC15CC or AC15H1TV?
Interesting observations. Hmmm. I wonder if the tube rectifier in the AC15H1TV has much to do with it sounding better, or if it's just better constructed overall.

Here's my '08 620FG 6-string. FG sure seems to be a popular finish option for this model!
