I'm very fond of the LaBella "deep talkin bass" strings. .128, .110, .085, .061, .044. They are pretty even on tension and balance and are stainless so they last pretty well.

Re: Are you waiting to see ?
Would it REALLY knock your socks off if they added CB??? I mean, that's a purely aesthetic change. I want RIC to do something adventurous like a new model bass. Not to mention CB would just mean an even longer wait.

Re: Steve Howe's Rick
I saw them three times on that tour and Howe definatley played a Ric Fireglo 12-string - different from what appears to be a Mapleglo in that photo. He indeed used it on Awaken. Amazing 12-string solo on that one - I'm in awe everytime I hear it. I never ever saw Howe live or in pics with a RoMo ...

Re: Rickenbacker style binding sources
If you're referring to the so-called"Checkerboard" purfling used to lend unique flavor to the deluxe Rickenbacker models of today, it's available from http://www.shellex.de, but only in large quantities. Smaller sources have dried up.

Re: Geddy's Bass Line on CTTH
Alot of Geddy's tone is in his fingernails. He has the "grounded" sound of fingerstyle playing but the attack of a pick player. Simply the best of both worlds.
I play back and forth with and without a pick. I've found that I have to play with a very thick firm pick to get it to operate properly ...

Re: To BEAD or not to BEAD? Five is the question...
I'm with you on the fret thing. I seldom find myself above the 14th fret, but I'm glad the others are there. As for the B string, I finally went back to 4 strings after 7 years as a 5 string player. Even though the B was nice to have, I found that when I went back to 4 strings, I hardly missed the ...

Why, I once played a bass with the neck so messed up.........jingle_jangle wrote:I played Chris' 1999-briefly, and unplugged, in JH's office during NAMM...the neck is, shall we say...challenged? Something like 13/32" clearance of the low "E" at fret 15 or so...

Re: Mangan strings
I just picked up some on the advise of a friend and so far I'm loving them. I like both the feel and sound. I got flats for my fret less and nickel wound for my 4001.

Ladies and Gentlemen (Rickenbacker employees too)
I'd like to sound out the waters as to the possibility of holding / forming a Pacific NorthWest Rickenbacker Forum sometime in the next 3-4 months if at all possible.
Many thanks !!!

4001 trc and repair questions.
I have a 4001 that I picked up on e-bay and its trashed, I'm pretty disappointed. But, I've never seen a truss rod cover that looks like this one. Its clear plexi with the logo painted on the back. Also the screw holes aren't countersunk like my other ones.
